IMAGINARY FRIENDS PRODUCTIONS
August 28, 2012
I recently moved to the area and came across a lively group of youth performing by Cold Stone one evening. They introduced themselves as part of Durango Performing Arts Company and that they perform every Monday evening through the summer. I enjoyed myself so much as they took me back in time with their selection of music and dancing. They mentioned that they just got back from their Summer Camp held each year and they asked for tips to help with scholarships for future camps. Upon further research I found that they also hold classes throughout the year in song, dance and theater and several productions are performed throughout the year for the community. They also just recently held a summer theater month long program that culminated in a musical production of Winnie the Pooh and Honk which I was able to attend. Again so impressed by the ability of youth from as young as about 4 or 5. This program has been highly supported by the community and the donations they receive to keep their programs going. I am so excited to support them in future productions and encourage others to help support such a worthy organization in theatrical arts.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing youth self esteem and confidence be boosted. I have seen past members of this program come and support the new members and talk about how much fun it was and that they grew so much because of this organization.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find them unlimited funding so that they can keep providing such a great service to the community as well as those participating in their classes, camps and productions.
