Founded in 2005 disAbility Solutions (dSIL) serves all people with disabilities in Volusia and Flagler counties, Florida. We maintain 4 core services of peer support, skills training, individual and systems advocacy and information and referral. In addition we run a Cookables class that teaches food preparation skills, shopping, nutrition, budgeting, cooking in varying appliances including toaster ovens, microwaves, stove top and oven meals. We continuously have a waiting list for this class. We also run a Service Animal Training program where we rescue trainable dogs from local shelters and match them up with a person with a disability. These programs are at no cost to our consumers. We run "Healthy Living" and "Emergency Preparedness workshops, among others and we assist parents of children with disabilities in their school setting. Our organization is staffed and run (bod) by over 51% people with disabilities. We are consumer driven and plan our programs around the needs of our community without duplicating what is all ready there.
