VIM in Jacksonville is the most rewarding volunteer opportunity I have experienced in the pat 40 years of volunteering. Volunteering using my nursing skills allows me the best venue to give back to the community to people who so deserve the help. The mission of providing " Assurance to the Working Uninsured' is remarkably demonstrated through out the medical community with in Jacksonville. All of the staff and the patients are appreciative of the volunteers and their thankfulness is continually shared with the volunteers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

sharing the joys of the patients as their lives are changed with health care provided, where they would not have had any except when they became so ill a visit to an emergency room, often too late, was their only source of health care.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

help them obtain a larger facility to operate within and then encourage more healthcare providers to donate their time.

I have made some friends at VIM and learned new skills. I have improved my patient teaching skills.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Appreciated, valuable, and appreciate being a nurse even more. I wish all nurses could volunteer here and perhaps they would understand what working together as a team can accomplish. Every one at VIM does all they can do to make everyone's day better, being supportive, helpful and showing up with only positive attitudes.

Volunteering as a clinical and triage RN with VIM-Jacksonville is categorized as the most rewarding role within my 34 years of nursing. The patients are appreciative and acknowledge the excellent level of free medical care they receive. The Medical Community in Jacksonville have shown remarkable insight as they make major contributions to this worthy non-profit. This demonstrates their knowledge of the effectiveness of the VIM mission, and the follow through of the daily operations. All volunteers are treated with respect and thankfulness for whatever talents they bring to the Clinic. This opportunity to volunteer at VIM-Jacksonville, is more rewarding to me, than I can possibly give in return.
