My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions (formerly MickaCoo), San Francisco, CA, USA
I first heard of Mickacoo through reading the blog of a woman who adopted a pair of King pigeons from them. The birds were so lovely and interesting -I had never considered pigeons as pets- and her experience with Micakoo sounded so wonderful I decided to get in touch to learn more. Elizabeth was more than happy to get me educated about these clever birds and help me through the aviary design process and adoption application. Wanting to know more about the birds and the people behind Mickacoo I volunteered to help build a foster aviary in my area. It was such a rewarding experience that I resolved to get to work on my own aviary sooner rather than later. With Mickacoos help -literally, they came to assist the building- I now have a lovely home for three pairs of wonderful birds. Not only is it a nice accent for the yard, it is a rich area to observe and interact with these very intelligent birds. Having pigeons has definitely enhanced my understanding and appreciation for compassion and happiness!

How did you find this group?
I first heard of Mickacoo through the blog of a woman who adopted a pair of King Pigeons; I was struck by their beauty and the story of Mickacoo's involvement in helping the woman create a home for the birds, and their help in finding just the right pair for her. From there I went to Mickacoo's website and the rest is history!
What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?
By default, Micakcoo's organization and philosophy has further encouraged my understanding of compassion as it applies to all life, my appreciation for the beauty inherent in nature, and a better understanding of these beautiful, intelligent, and under-served birds.
