The YP Foundation
October 19, 2009

The YP Foundation is probably the only organisation in Delhi that works with a wide range of issues and mediums, active in multiple areas in the city of Delhi simultaneously. From Child Rights to RTI to the independent music industry in India, the YP has gained a ubiquitous presence in and around Delhi through numerous events, workshops, interactive discussions etc. Having been a staff member of the YP, I can personally vouch for the fact that each and every branch of the organisation undergoes a rigorous reseach and training phase and the members, though mostly volunteers, are highly qualified and well-informed in their respective fields of work. The YP is a great space for young people to engage with issues they are passionate about, as one has the freedom to choose a specific medium/area of work, supported by a very well-defined working structure.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the freedom given to members within a well-structured system that enables one to work comfortably and yet remain productive and efficient.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very dedicated and passionate about their respective areas of work !

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be the best space for young people in the country !

Music Basti
October 13, 2009

Music Basti is a unique project running in New Delhi, reaching out to underprivileged children through the medium of music. As a musician who volunteers with MB, I can definitely attest to the fact that the MB team is a group of extremely hard-working people who understand how to use music as an interactive medium to reach out to their particular audience. The workshops are a wonderful experience for the children, as they not only get to learn about and listen to different styles of music, but also have a chance to interact with the musicians personally. On the other side, the volunteers also get a chance to work innovatively with the medium of music, as MB is not just about a performance -- but a very special and intimate experience between two groups of people getting to know each other better.
