I called because I'm in the performing arts, and having terrible financial hardship because of prolonged acute medical problems, and being told I'm ineligible for every city agency and aid organization. Even though they weren't able to give me a grant either, they had really good, useful suggestions of who I could try to contact, and where else I might look. Wendy, with whom I spoke, was also just really understanding and respectful, which I've found is very rare when one is on this end of nonprofits! They were really helpful and really lovely.
