Samaritans Purse
May 29, 2012

I am sad to see some of the comments on here about how much Franklin Graham is making. Is that in gross or net amounts? And do these persons know what he does with the money? I am willing to bet that he is returning much of it back into the organization. I have been a donor through Christmas Child for only two years now and then recently have made some other donations for Sudan, where Franklin has been in the thick of where the people were under attack. How many CEO's of charities do that? I know only one other one for sure and that is Wess Stafford of Compassion International, I believe he would also risk his life for the children. I intend to continue giving to Samaritan's Purse until I see in black in white that Mr. Graham is ripping them off. My income would also look pretty good for other seniors my age, but nobody knows just what I do with that money, and a large percentage of it is given to charity, like sponsoring 8 children with Compassion and 2 with World Vision for one. If people are concerned about the money Franklin Graham is making, why don't the just ask him if that is net or gross and what percentage of it does he actually keep? I know he could tell them it is none of their business but then again they might be surprised.

MY ROLE:
Donor

WORLD VISION INTERNATIONAL
May 29, 2012

Unfortunately I did not do my research when I sponsored two children from World Vision, to see what their employees or CEO's are paid, or even researched what the children are learning. I was already a sponsor with Compassion International for 3 children at the time and another sponsor had a child with World Vision so I chose a couple also. Since then, which has been almost 6 years now, I have noticed the difference between Compassion and World Vision and I would prefer to give more support to Compassion. I do believe World Vision does a lot of good work but I like the openness of Compassion and how they do things regarding the paperwork and the finances. I was actually a volunteer level II Advocate until this past January when I had to give it up due to Shingles affecting me physically, I still have them. I would never tell anyone not to choose World Vision nor would I promote them, I tell everyone that they are a good organization but I do prefer Compassion. Every years since I became a sponsor Compassion has continued to show good results through Charity Navigator.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

tours and field trips taken to a couple of the countries where I sponsor children. I actually was able to meet two of my children on two different trips. I and others on the tour received a tour of the Compassion Local Offices to see how they handle the letters that are sent to the children; also tours of some projects, and actually visited some of the homes of some sponsored children. There was a distinct improvement between Compassion sponsored children and non-sponsored children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I don't believe I would change anything.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

I did not not make a gift, I sponsor children and partner with 3 child survival projects as well as include a separate donation for their HIV/Aids program. I was prompted by the Lord to become a sponsor. The Earthquake in Haiti did prompt me to send in a separate donation just for those with Compassion who had lost families and homes in Haiti.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

See above.

What would you tell others about this organization?

I would tell them just what I told the various churches that held Compassion Sundays, that Compassion was a reliable, caring, loving organization that only wants the best for the children of the world, especially in third world countries, that they are honest, trustworthy, and care more about helping the children not only survive but to come to know Jesus Christ. They also care more about how their money is used to help the children, which includes their families, their projects, their communities and eventually even their countries.

MY ROLE:
Donor & I was an Advocate and I went around to churches and groups promoting sponsorship of Children through Compassion.
