In response to the prior review made to Guidstar: When the SRF takes in a horse whether with a donation or not and the horse is assumed unadoptable for any reason, the horse is sent to a farm in an area that is more affordable. As horses can live well into their 30's we do our best to make the best decision for each horse keeping cost as a consideration. One unadoptable horse can cost SRF as much as $100,000. before he passes on, and at the moment we have 90 horses that we consider unadoptable due to age or injury as potential adopters continue to pass over them. I suspect one of the two horses might have been adoptable and one was not. SRF follows their care for life semi-annually with required veterinary reports even at the boarding facilities we use, so I suspect both horses are doing well. We are grateful for your gift to help us care for your horses as most people do not contribute at all. In the history of the SRF, 22 years, less than a handful of people have donated even a four figure gift to help us care for their horse. I admire you for your kindness to your horses, and your generosity. Please feel free to email me your name and telephone number as well as the names of your horse and I will call you if you would like to discuss this. My email address is email@example.com.
