As a member of Lions Clubs International, I have been involved with non-profit organizations for the past 25 years. I was first drawn to the Lions because of the dedication I witnessed from Lions Club members, and the fact that all donations went to charity. So when I encountered Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, that was something I looked at. What I found was so much more. My wife and I adopted our 1st greyhound from GALT over 5 years ago. Since that time I have become more and more involved, and for the last year I have been the treasurer for GALT. I could not be more proud to be a member of any organization. The dedication and focus of the all volunteer group is astonishing. It draws you into selfless contribution to the hounds, because everything GALT does is for the benefit of the dogs. For instance my third adoption from GALT, Piper, was going to be put down by his owners because he required expensive surgery after being attacked by another dog. After being alerted by the Veterinarian, GALT claimed Piper. Three surgeries and several thousand dollars later, My wife and I adopted Piper because he was the most wonderful "child" we had ever encountered. If not for GALT, he would have been lost. We cannot put any price on the benefit we have received from GALT simply because they will not turn away any Greyhound, regardless of circumstance.
