FOOD EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
July 18, 2012

I have been volunteering with the Food Empowerment Project for about 2 years. I am one of their researchers. I volunteer with F.E.P. because the work that they are doing is critical. Their goal is to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one's food choices. They work hard to educate the public about making informed choices to prevent injustices against animals, people and the environment. With many groups, you see a focus on only of those issues, but F.E.P. draws them together to show how people's choices affect animals, people AND the environment. It's all connected. It is an honor and a privilege to support F.E.P.'s work and the difference they are making in the world.

Volunteer

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
January 11, 2012

I've been volunteering with PETA for over 5 years. This includes demonstrations, letter writing campaigns, veg outreach, vegan food giveaways, festival tabling, running a Half Marathon to raise funds for PETA's Investigations and Rescue Fund and marching with the PETA Veg Contingent in the SF Pride Parade. While some people may not approve of PETA's tactics, they are incredibly effective. No other organization has been as successful in bringing out change as PETA has. It has been an honor to volunteer for PETA and I am also proud to be a PETA donor/supporter. Whenever I'm asked to volunteer at an event for PETA, I always say, without hesitation, "anything for PETA". I truly mean that. Angry Bird Costume? You got it! Lettuce Suit? No problem! Handing out Veg Starter Kits at a busy farmers' market? Count me in! I look forward to future volunteer opportunities with this incredible organization.

Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary
January 5, 2012

I've been volunteering at Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary for a year and a half. Harvest Home provides sanctuary for rescued and/or abused farmed animals, such as chickens, roosters, guinea fowl, turkeys, ducks, goats, rabbits and one very special pot-bellied pig. Without Harvest Home, these animals would have no where else to go and would likely be euthanized. Harvest Home provides loving care, food, shelter and medical treatment for their 200+ rescued residents. I've really enjoyed volunteering at Harvest Home Sanctuary. My favorite volunteer opportunities are the rabbit and chicken spa days, where the animals are given a full health check and nail trim. Harvest Home also educates the public about the treatment of farmed animals and has given people the opportunity to meet these animal ambassadors face to face and see them as living beings. Once you feed a turkey a cranberry, your life will never be the same! It is an honor and a privilege to volunteer at Harvest Home and I'm proud to also be a Harvest Home supporter.
