As a Breast Cancer survivor, I selected this agency as it just lost one of its members to breast cancer. We are looking for a dog and found one we were interested in. I called and got some information about the dog we were interested in. The director indicated that the dog would be there after Christmas and there was no hurry. I called again to schedule a time to come in and see the dog and turn in an application. I again spoke to the director. This time she said there was an application for the same dog. When I commented on this she indicated that she was concerned about our lack of a fence. This was a judgmental call with no basis. We have a large yard that is fenced on 3 sides but also have a dog yard within that space. My issue is I feel they are playing the "breast cancer" card with little or no attention to how this affects the public. People skills could be improved which might increase donations. Whether I adopted a dog from them I would gladly have donated because of the cancer connection. Now I'm not sure.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would try to make the contact with the public somewhat more professional. Snap judgments can cause issues that could easily have been taken care of early.
