Review for Big Brothers Big Sisters Of America, Philadelphia, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm a big with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities. I've been matched with 'little' for about a year and half. It's been amazing. Not only do I see a boost in his confidence and grades, but a better relationship with his family, and becoming a leader amongst his friends. We've come a long way in our relationship and have a long way to go! Thanks to BBBS this relationship has been facilitated and lives are being changed. Thing is, I don' t know if mine has changed more or his! Thanks BBBS!

Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Quite well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

Not much really. It's up to me to build the relationship.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Big time! I don't have younger siblings so I never hang out with people who are so dependent. I think everyone should go through this organization before even thinking about having children of their own. Very eye opening!

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

An incredibly well run organization. Joining up with BBBSGTC is the best decision I've made. Everyone that I have dealt with throughout the org. has been very proffesional and fun loving all at the same time! They do an excellent job supporting, encouraging and thanking their dedicated volunteers! Everyone here is here for a great purpose then themselves and it's very obvious from the get go! I can't say enough about these wonderful people and the difference they are making in our community!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

gaining a great new friend.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional and kind, but even more then that caring and compassionate, and true to their mission.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

would be great but they do so much with the resources they have available. Although they're not loaded I don't think $ is their issue.

Ways to make it better...

I could find more time to hang out with my 'little'.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

volunteer numbers. They do a great job recruiting I think but there is so much need.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wish people could understand better what a difference the org. makes in the lives of everyone involved.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
