My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Books for Prisons Inc, Visalia, CA, USA
I assisted Books for Prisons with the cleanup of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) fall book sale at one of the local malls. Part of the work consisted of separating the trade paper back books and other soft bound books from the hard backed books. The great thing was that BFP went the extra mile to get special trays that would fit the soft bound books so that the books could be easily transported to the local county jail to be used in the jails literacy program.

It helped me to understand that there is much more to volunteer activities than just showing up and just standing around waiting for someone to tell you to do something. There is a very lot of planning before and after the event.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
I felt very good about the work that Books for Prisons is doing to redirect unwanted books away from the landfill sites.
