WINNETKA YOUTH ORGANIZATION
September 14, 2009
My daughter, Joanna Swift, is the WYO's Administrative Director, after serving for two years as its Program Director.
I am a Shadow Work facilitator, trained in Jungian psychology to listen carefully to what a person is really saying beneath the words, with a client practice since 2001. Joanna is an exceptional listener, and as a person is empathetic and supportive while remaining firm on boundaries, all of which makes her an outstanding mentor to young people. She's told me in confidence from time to time about the students who visit the WYO and how she engages with them, and I'm consistently impressed by her ability to reach them and help them where they are. Any parent of a student who visits the WYO can feel absolute confidence that their child will receive appropriate support and mentoring from Joanna and the staffers she supervises. I recommend the WYO without reservation.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
exceptionally good listeners, caring, understanding, good-humored, hard-working, professional
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help more students at New Trier, who are under enormous pressure to achieve and to conform to the expectations of affluent parents.
