The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The number of euthanasias are down this year by 50%. The manager really works at placing pets in permanent homes through rescue groups. I even drove 6 dogs 150 miles to Memphis TN to meet a wonderful rescue volunteer group. These dogs went to Canada.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
work to pass city/county ordinances that would require spaying/neutering of pets over 6 months of age.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Seeing pets find lifelong homes. Watching the new building being built with my volunteer help.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
cheerful and very hard working
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
hire enough staff to walk all of the dogs twice a day and spay/neuter every pet in the county.
Ways to make it better...
There were fewer animals needing home.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
working with antiquated ideas concerning pet ownership and pet sterilization. the public is very un-educated when it comes to pet overpopulation and why healthy dogs and cats are dying so that the public may indiscremately breed their pets and have more.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Heber Springs Humane Society really tries hard to do the right things for the animals here. The county elected officials are a bunch of good ole boys that need a real education concerning animal welfare. I feel I have regressed 20 years by moving here.
