My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Cambodian Children's Fund, Santa Monica, CA, USA
Throughout the world there is a surging demand for independence and self-determination. These attributes are fundamental to the development of any kind of individual or collective responsibility.
CCF is a shining example of how this can be achieved. Remarkably it is set amongst the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life on and near the rubbish dumps of Phnom Penh where the only and most important resource is human. Scott and his team do not wish to create dependence but independence; they do not want an environment of victimhood but one of self respect self confidence. They are not dealing out bowls of charity but buckets of inspiration and love to stir the hearts of the young for whom such feelings have been in short supply.
The schools, the clinics, the provision of clothes and food, the music and dance, the workshops, the bakery which have blossomed in a stunningly short time are the direct result of the belief everyone has in everyone else. Nothing is impossible. The aim is to be self-sustaining, self sufficient and fulfilled. It is all tantalisingly within reach provided the network of support can be maintained. That's you and me.
