Hearts Speak Inc.
March 28, 2013

I want to submit a review for a Heart Speak photographer - Elaine from I Got the Shot, in northeast PA.
Elaine takes time about once a month to come to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter and showcases her talent by capturing the spirit of each animal she photographs. Her photos are crisp, clear, and beautifully edited. Each animal she photographs is posted with a brief paragraph about that animal. Elaine will blend her own experiences with the animal, with its general description, adding an animated dynamic to an already stunning portrait.
I also want to point out that Elaine photographs not only dogs, but also cats and small animals just as beautifully!

Heart Speak brought Elaine to the shelter, and in turn Elaine is bringing adopters to the animals she photographs. She also has referred another Heart Speak member to our neighboring county's shelter. Through this non-profit, two shelters near and dear to those who live in North East PA are now benefiting from the artistic endeavors of amazing professional photographers. 5 stars!

HUMANE SOCIETY OF LACKAWANNA COUNTY
June 15, 2012

This shelter is fantastic. The facility is quite old but the amount of cleaning and upkeep the small staff does truly shows. The animals are clean, their runs are clean, and the donated items are kept neatly stored. The staff is helpful, though I wish they'd smile more. The volunteers are a truly dedicated bunch. Their new foster program is a great way for people go get involved - hands on contribution to their community! The shelter is the only one in our county, and I can't imagine getting a dog from any other means. For me, for the rest of my life, this shelter is it.

Coordinating the foster program

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Improve the physical facility, ask board members to become more involved DAILY and allow cats to inhabit the extra empty building on the property therefore increasing the space for dogs and allowing room for small animals to be easily seen.

INDRALOKA ANIMAL SANCTUARY
September 27, 2011

Indraloka Animal Sanctuary is truly heaven on earth for the animals (humans alike!) who are fortunate enough to find themselves there.
I never knew a pig could smile until I volunteered at Indraloka.
I never knew a chicken could laugh until I volunteered at Indraloka.
And I never knew I had the capacity to enjoy shoveling horse droppings until volunteered at Indraloka!

This non-profit changed my life! I only wish I could spend every free moment there.

Indra - who lives at and runs the sanctuary - gave me valuable information recently to help me keep a dog I was fostering. She has valuable insight and cares about every animal and every person!

I believe they are on track, creating a cat adoption campaign with another local non-profit. This is a fantastic outreach idea to help both organizations. They also have a great facebook group for volunteer coordination, also a huge help for everyone I'm sure.

MY ROLE:
Volunteer & I volunteered on cleaning days (cleaning animal stalls, replenishing bedding).
