HEARTS IN HARMONY ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY GROUP
August 27, 2009
I wanted to do volunteer work for quite a while but had no idea what I wanted to do but wanted it to make a difference and be meaningful. When our dog passed away and we decided to get a new dog, there was just something about our new dog that was so special I knew I wanted to share her with others. She is huge but has always had a gentle spirit, is friendly and loves children and people just seem so taken with her. So, we went through the steps to get her certified to do visits. I still had no idea where we were going to volunteer but one day saw an add in the paper talking about Hearts in Harmony and what they do. That was it, I knew that was where my dog and I were going and we have been volunteering with this organization ever since. We get to see the kids grow with the activities involving the dogs, i.e. teaching them how to train a dog in obedience, or just hang out and visit with them for the time we are there. The co-founders are truly people who care and have a heart for helping others. I truly love working with the other volunteers, dogs and children we visit, and there is just nothing more rewarding than seeing the kids faces light up when we bring our dogs in for a visit.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Working with the kids and sharing our animals with them.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Outstanding people who care about the hearts of children.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Reach so many more childrens lives.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
