I volunteer transportation and home checking for FAREC and Lana many times every year. FAREC has never failed to help any animal with finding a new home, whether it's a sanctuary or an individual home. FAREC also heads up coordinating large rescues or the one single rescue. Farec educates the public, organizes funding for transporting, fencing, shelter, vetting, encluding spay/neutering, or anything an animal may need. I would not give my time and money to any other rescue since Lana and Farec are doing a wonderful and productive job. I see this happening daily.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help it expand to have a holding place for all the animals that need rescuing at the eleventh hour euthanisias, and to have a permanent transport vehicle to use if possible.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

If I could help transport and rescue many more animals every month, but the reality is that money and time is needed to support this type of activity and Lana does a great amount with what she can raise already.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

I am constantly making new friends all over the counry when I transport animals from state to state while expanding new contacts for animal welfare, new homes, and helping existing pets with their owners. I could not do this work without FAREC financing and guiding me.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

I can't get enough of this type of volunteering, sharing the love of animals in need and helping people in need. It's a great feeling to do what I can because of FAREC being behind me 100%.

As a transport volunteer and a recipient of FAREC's help with my own rescue in FL, I am constantly amazed at how many animals from all over the United States are helped daily by Lana and her dedication to FAREC and the animals. I have two pot bellied pigs at home from FAREC's rehoming efforts. I have also personally transported FAREC animals to their new homes when these abandoned, lost, hurt, and homeless animals had no where else to go. It's the best feeling in the world to see these animals get a second chance. Once an animal or owner calls needing help, Lana doesn't give up until a solution is found, whether for money to help with a surgery, housing, fencing, or to transport to a new home many miles away. Zoning issues, vetting, health or behavioral issues, and education is just part of what FAREC can provide to a sanctuary, or an individual owner. Sometimes help in the form of money is difficult to come by but FAREC will always help in some way, given enough time. I only wish FAREC could do more but the economy as it is today makes it more difficult, but certainly not impossible. One just has check out their record of accomplishments each year they have been an organization to see.

When an animal is posted out to the public that needs a new home, donations for a worthy cause to help animals, or to physically help an individual with animals, without fail, that animal or person is helped in some way, if not completely. Many homeless and helpless animals have been helped, and I've been a part in transporting some these animals to their new homes over the years, seeing amazing results from the educational pages, and been the recipient of a funding myself to help the animals in my rescue.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

If I could, I would make it possible that more people know about FAREC and get the word out to the large companies and individuals of animal contributions know how fantastic FAREC is and just how much they accomplish for the animal community so that FAREC can grow and do so much more.

For FAREC to be able to bring in more donations through grants, advertisments, good news networks, and donors, so that more good work could be accomplished.

Through working with FAREC, I have broadened my network of animal rescues, sanctuaries and professionals, made many, many friends all over the Eastern US, placed many homeless or abandoned animals, helped many people with animal issues while widening my experiences and education on Pot Bellied pigs, farm pigs, dogs, cats, cows, horses, and other small animals from behavioral and health problems, housing requirements, zoning issues, feeding requirements, and problem solving for the owners, not to mention large rescues and community involvment, to a simple one on one training of animals and their owners.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Satisfied, happy and ready to do more for FAREC. I see the results.

Volunteer & As a rescue and transport of homeless animals in FL, I rely on Forgotten Angels Rescue and Education Center to help me fund my transport of animals to new homes, help individuals with zoning, fencing, behavioral or health problems, and in turn I help FARE.
