The Balch Springs community is about 10 square miles and includes over 20,000 residents; more than 1/3 of which are below poverty level. By offering experiences in the arts, the alliance is enriching the lives of many residents as well as nearby communities.
Our youth need outlets for their creativity and the Arts Alliance provides one.

My singing and self confidence. Simply by helping me choose music appropriate to my voice, my performing ability has improved dramatically. I have been given an outlet for my creativity that I did not have before and an opportunity to give back to the community in a positive way.

While it lacks funding, space, and participation; the Arts Alliance is a well structured organization with dedicated personnel. As time passes and more people get involved by donating their time and money, I can see the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance becoming an even greater asset to the Balch Springs community.

I am learning organizational, computer, promotional, and planning skills. I am meeting creative people, experiencing art and music I would not otherwise have had access to.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
I always leave the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance offices and events with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
