Maria Juega, the LALDEF Board and volunteers provide information to the Latino and non-Latino community year round with very little $$ and sometimes $0. Its tireless work in the community includes: Futuro (a high school mentoring program), annual community health fairs, provision of Community I.D. cards in Trenton and Princeton, NJ., dissemination of a plethera of information on immigration issues, including seminars, discussions etc. in Princeton, both university and town, as well as in surrounding municipalities, and assisting individuals with unfair labor practices and immigration problems.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
providing me with an opportunity to assist people when they most need it. The satisfaction of interacting with a group of dedicated, caring, people and to witness what a small group of dedicated people can do. (Apologies to Margaret Meade).
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Provide a permanent, generous endowment.
