Prime Stage Theatre
August 8, 2009

Prime Stage has been the place that helped me to grow to be the person I am today! I started with Prime Stage in December 1997 when I was 15 years old. First as an actor then I grew into other roles leading up to Stage Manager. Wayne Brinda particularly saw in me (and others!) the gifts we had to offer, and cultivated those things. I would NEVER have imagined myself as a Stage Manager - I was shy and Stage Managing requires a LOT of responsibilty... but Wayne/Prime Stage saw in me something more! At age 17 I stage managed my first show - through their mentorship, ecouragement, and support I came to love this job over all the others! (yes, even compared to being onstage!) Stage Managing required me to grow a lot in order to take charge like I needed to - and now today being married and raising two kids - I can apply the skills I learned while Stage Managing!!! Another aspect of Prime Stage that I am grateful for is there attention to making sure it is a family friendly place. Because young kids were apart of every show, workers were required "keep it clean" while kids were around. The family atmosphere was awesome too - many workers (backstage and onstage) returned for several shows, and in each show a new family was made. These are people I still cherish today and have not found such close relationships since. Thank you prime stage for one of the greatest experience of my life!!! If I weren't living in Illinois I would still be involved!! :) :) :)

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

young kids coming to see the plays through schools then wanting to get involved...

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

ask Wayne what to do!!! His vision from the start has been spot on and he has stuck to it!

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the family that was created in all who were involved

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

AMAZING PEOPLE! I loved them all!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue to reach the public with it's wonderful stories! The visions of this organization are all to server the minds of youth, families, and EVERYONE with great thoughts and stories!

Ways to make it better...

I hadn't decided to go to college in another state, since I had to stop working at prime stage :)

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Bigger production companies taking over, the city's constant changing of locations they can use, and less funding for the arts...

One thing I'd also say is that...

those who carry on the torch must keep the vision alive for theatre for YOUTH AND FAMILIES, it is very rare any more to find these types of things that keep in mind the innocence of youth!!!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2003
