Dusty's Riders provides an opportunity for at-risk children to not only learn about horses, but actually feed them, care for them, and ride them. A day with Dusty's Riders is split into three fun parts. The day begins with the children learning about horses and getting to feed and care for Dusty, the horse. The second part of the day is horseback trail riding via the LA Equestrian Center in Burbank. The day is then completed with lunch and fun at Shakey's. Being fortunate enough to volunteer this one July saturday, it was one of the best days of 2009 for me. Seeing the expressions on the children's faces who have never seen a live horse is priceless and witnessing the enjoyment that these children experienced while feeding Dusty and going horseback riding is equally as priceless.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
witnessing the enjoyment and genuine fun these children had.
