Review for Totally Positive Productions, Chicago, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

TAJ JONES, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF TOTALLY POSITIVE PRODUCTIONS, HAS A PASSION FOR WORKING WITH YOUTH IN CHICAGO, AND PARTICULARLY THE ENGLEWOOD COMMUNITY. HE HAS TAUGHT THEM TO USE RAP MUSIC AND ART TO BRING FORTH POSITIVE, EDUCATIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL MESSAGES. ADDITIONALLY, MANY YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES' LIVES HAVE BEEN ENRICHED BY THE MANY FIELD TRIPS AND OUTINGS SPONSORED BY TOTALLY PRODUCTIONS TO CULTURAL, SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL SITES. I KNOW THAT MANY YOUTH AND PARENTS HAVE BEEN ENLIGHTENED BY TOTALLY POSITIVE PRODUCTIONS' CRIME PREVENTION WORKSHOPS. I AM POSITIVE THAT THIS PROGRAM HAS DETERRED MANY YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ENGAGING IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could build a youth center staffed with experienced, educated, people with a passion for working with youth, and recruit and work with many, more children and y could reach many more youth in the Chicago.

One thing I'd also say is that we need more programs like Totally Positive Productions, an organization where the focus is not just to criticize and complain about negative rap art and music, but to offer solutions and ways to make both more positive.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Board Member & I referred children and youth from my church to the program, and supported all the work and activities the executive director planned for the children and youth.
