JEAN-JOSEPH DARBOUZE FOUNDATION
June 21, 2011
I am at a loss for words as I think about the Jean Joseph Darbouze Foundation and how it was created. Utterly speechless about what it means to its members and the lives that its affected since its inception. Profoundly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be part of a dream that began by faith. Convinced that the promise of God to be realized in our life is real. This dream was conceived at an unexpected time. I am the youngest of 5 children, Haitian born. The JJD Foundation was founded in 2009. After the death of our father we thought it best to honor his memory by allowing a community teacher to hold tutoring sessions at the home that our father grew up and died in. A home that was practically renovated just years prior to his passing. We knew that one of his desires if not passions was to help the less fortunate by sharing his resources, time, intellect, sense of humor and most of all his faith. Today the organization helps close to 150 children to obtain adequate education and propel them to rise above their circumstances to reach new heights. When I think of the challenges I experienced as a child as I obtained my education here in the United States, none can compare to those these children overcome daily. Imagine making it through the day without running water, electricity, clothing, food, transportation, school materials, shelter, security, peace of mind. These are the challenges that must be overcome as these children gather daily pursuing a dream to promote to another level. My commitment to this cause and interaction with these children have increased my faith, shown me how resilient we can be as humans, and taught me countless lessons. What will it take? You and I in Unity. Help someone in need today. We are not promised the next. Now is the time. WWW.JJDFOUNDATION.ORG.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The children to whom the school facilities are opened to daily may not have another place to go to if it were not available. The teachers are committed and eager to teach. The majority of the parents are illiterate but become actively involved in the education of their children, hoping for generational transformation. The community becomes more sustainable through the increase of knowledge and provision of education.
