Simhat Torah at IKAR was incredible. It reminded me that the Jewish community is not dying. We are not disappearing, we just need to be met at a place that is comfortable and challenging. You have found that crux and I am so thankful for it. It was a very special night, but then again most days at IKAR are very special.
The Great!
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... their enthusiasm about Judaism. They don't shy away from being Jewish in exchange for bringing people in.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… bring in more staff. I don't think there is room for more staff, but more than once something has been caught by the red tape or the confusion of the small office.

I first became aware of JWW when Janice Kamenir-Reznik spoke about her trip to the refugee camps in Chad back in 2007. I was so moved by her efforts, her raw emotion and her spirit that I knew I had to be involved. I worked with my community to get them involved in the work of JWW. We have joined the Walk for Darfur 2 years in a row, plus some of their other events. They range from academic to thought-provoking to just plain fun. Plus, the pieces they put out for Pesach and Rosh Hashanah are beautiful and interesting. I look forward to getting more involved in the future.
The Great!
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... they cover all aspects of stopping atrocities around the world. They work with the community and government locally as well as the refugees on the ground in Africa and Israel.
Ways to make it better!
- If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… open up other offices around the country. I don't know how they do all that they do from a small office in Encino, but I think it is time for them to expand to NY, SF, etc.
