I have volunteered with The Zakat Foundation numerous times. I helped sort out donated clothes, packed backpacks with school supplies to be donated to children in need in local schools, prepared material to be sent out to donors and among other tasks. As I worked I observed the small number of staff whom work at the office and I realized how hardworking each one was. In order to successfully run a growing charity organization such as ZF with such a small number of staff (which also accounts for their administrative costs being so low - 3.1%), all who work here are truly dedicated to the work that they do. They provide donors with pictures, testimonials, articles and annual reports to reassure them that their contributions are used in the most efficient way towards the programs of their choice.

I have volunteered to sort out donated clothes, shoes, toys and school supplies that are then packed into labeled boxes and loaded into shipping containers. I did that several times in 2011 and 2010. I am proud to have been part of that exercise. I observed that the Zakat Foundation of America offices are simply furnished with bare necessities and computers. They are housed in a one storey unimposing brick building. There is nothing superfluous about their quarters . . which leads me to conclude that the organization is frugal, when it comes to using donated money for themselves and using most of the money for those who need help. The director and his family are active contributing members of the community and are known for their integrity. I am including them in my review because I believe that they represent the Foundation. Please do not hesitate to donate to Zakat Foundation of America, in cash or kind. Your donation will definitely help the needy. June12

If you want to make sure your charitable donation is used to help people and programs around the world, Zakat Foundation of America is the place to go. From Emergency Hurricane Relief in the US to building wells in drought-stricken communities in Africa, Zakat Foundation of America has an endless number of programs for you to support. As the Communications Coordinator at Zakat Foundation of America and a current donor, I feel comfort in knowing that the place I work and support can be trusted to do great things for people who need it the most.

I began donating to Zakat Foundation of America in 2005. In 2007 I was hired as a receptionist. I am proud to say I have never worked in such an employee-friendly environment. I have great benefits with a wonderful boss and staff. It gives me great ease to know my donations are going to directly help the individuals I intend on donating towards. One thing I great appreciate and take pride in with the Zakat Foundation is we are a small staff and this allows us to be extremely personable to our donors.

I have turned to Zakat Foundation repeatedly for reliable charitable donations in the US and abroad. i was very moved to see that they had helped a colleague's elderly mother after her house burned down, promptly and while maintaining her dignity. Over the years I have seen their work in crisis/ conflict areas, natural disasters and their compassionate care in helping the poor and needy in a variety of situations all over the globe. Their integrity and transparency have kept me coming back to donate with peace of mind year after year. their staff will answer questions honestly and openly.while they work in different parts of the world, I have not found any political, ethnic or religious bias in the work they do. I have been struck by the selfless service they provide, particularly in the fields of healthcare and education. I have , and will continue to recommend that my friends and family use Zakat Foundation as a reliable source of charity giving

I am both an employee–Graphics & Web Design Coordinator–and donor to Zakat Foundation of America (ZF). I am proud to be part of an organization that holds itself to the highest standards. ZF actively works toward the highest levels of transparency and efficiency–using the largest portion of every donation toward the beneficiaries. ZF seeks out those who are most in need and actively works toward not just alleviating immediate needs but looking at long term, sustainable solutions to add to the quality of life of its beneficiaries.

Zakat Foundation of America is an organization that I can believe in. I sincerely respect the efforts of the organization for they are truly committed to affecting the lives of others. As a donor I'm proud to be affiliated with the organization.
Unlike other charities, transparency is their obligation. I'm provided updates regularly through their Quarterly Newsletter, monthly Enewsletter, monthly e-blasts, daily social media updates and yearly annual reports.
I feel like a board member because they forge a special relationship with their donors. Regardless of how much you donate or how often you donate, you're given importance.

I see the maturation of the organization. I see the growth they experience but they stay true to their commitment to community work. I'm extremely proud of.
