My husband and I joined the YWCA because of its good price and for the fitness center. We renewed our membership in Dec of 2008 and they closed the building in January of 2009 without a word of explanation or a refund. We filled out a form to receive our money back--prorated but no one that I know of has received a penny and worse yet the board president has NO COMMENT and stonewalls any attempt to find out what exactly happened. The Executive director left town right after the closing. Whether it was outright fraud or mismanagement no one knows but the public has the right to know from a non-profit organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Had low profit day care.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Kept the members informed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

good ambassadors of the organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

stay open.

Ways to make it better...

They had told us that they were in financial trouble and let us go month by month with our membership. Even the employees didn't know they were closing until they lost their jobs.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

telling the former members where their money went.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the board members treated this organization as their own little club.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
