WFAS is a place where people get to go and meet the animals they typically think of as food. There they get to interact with the animals and see that they have personalities, feelings, and lives that they enjoy living - when given the opportunity. So many people - particularly those from cities have never even seen a real turkey or never seen how playful and smart a pig is. WFAS provides people the opportunity to rethink their relationship to animals - all animals - not just their companion animals. In fact it helps people to understand that in fact, there really isnt much of a difference between their beloved cats and dogs and a farm animal. WFAS is a place of hope and peace - wonderful experience for people of all ages

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary is absolutely amazing!! After visiting for the first time this past spring my lifestyle definitely changed. When visiting you get the chance to meet and interact with the wonderful farm animals that most people only see on their plate or on their backs. You get to appreciate them in a natural and happy state and even give them treats! The tours are very educational regarding the animal's personal stories, realities of the exploitation of the animals and why everyone should live a vegan lifestyle. The animals are cared for with lots of love from all the staff and are living in a natural happy environment. I've been volunteering for a few months now and it is indeed a happy place for both visitors and the 200 + residents. Everyone should visit and appreciate the beauty of this place. Jenny Brown and Doug Abel have done a magnificent job!

Woodstock Sanctuary is an amazing place that does incredible work with animals and people. Visiting will change your life and open your heart. I started volunteering almost 5 years ago and have been hooked on it ever since. They take wonderful, heart-felt care of the animals and provide education for people about vegan living. Jenny, Doug and their staff are tireless in their efforts to help animals and to help people see them as the wonderful beings they are. Come visit and have your life expanded by the amazing people and animals!

My life has been forever changed by the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary! Home to over 200 rescued farm animals, WFAS gives people the opportunity to meet and interact with animals they have only known as food on their plate. Once meeting all of these lovable, sentient beings, I made the connection and went vegan. Now I am a dedicated volunteer, advocate and animal rights activist and its all thanks to Jenny Brown, Doug Abel, their staff of amazing caretakers and of course the critters. You should visit ASAP!

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary is my favorite place in the world. Thanks to the founders, Jenny Brown and Doug Abel, over 200 animals who were victims of abuse, neglect or meant for inevitable slaughter are now living their lives in safety, peace and with loving care. Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary (WFAS) is a wonderful place that everyone should visit - not only to see the animals and learn their stories but because you leave transformed, seeing the world in a whole different light. Woodstock is very fortunate to have such a place in their community. If anything epitomizes the concepts of peace and love that Woodstock is known for, it is the compassion that lives at WFAS.

I am fortunate to live near the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. After driving by the serene scene of cows, sheep and goats living free, I stopped by one day. After talking to Elana ( Program Coordinator for WFAS) I was invited to meet with founders Jenny Brown and Doug Abel. Through my volunteer efforts with WFAS I have gotten to know all of it's staff. They share a passion and belief in the right of all sentient beings to live out their lives in peace. They "walk the walk"and are as a group the most committed, hard-working and mindful group of people I have met. Go to the Sanctuary if you are able, it's a 2 hour ride from NYC, in the Catskill Mountains, and well worth the trip. If you can't actually visit, you can check out their youtube channel and see the compelling and uplifting stories of the farm animals who have found a haven in Willow New York.

I discovered WFAS through their ThanksLiving event, a meat-free alternative to Thanksgiving. I have never felt such a warm welcome and overwhelming peace so instantly, and so consistently ever since. From the moment one steps onto that magical swath of land ringed by the Catskill mountains, where compassion rules, the love vibration is palpable. Jenny and Doug and the fantastic staff are all great people who truly live the mission. Each animal has an opportunity to heal in a supportive environment that enables their individualities to come out, making them so endearing that you'll never forget them. The great levelers, these very aware and thankful creatures bring together visitors and volunteers of all ages, areas and outlooks to experience a new sense of being, another way of existence, an approach to life based on respect for ourselves, our fellow earthlings and the journey we all share.
The Great!
