This was by far the most significant and impactful venture in which I’ve participated. I learned so much that was relevant to my everyday life. I feel a lot more motivated to advocate for myself, my voice, my professional aspirations. I feel unapologetic for what I have endured and what I want to achieve. Thank you Woodhull for forcing me to get out of the rut I was in and make a change that was so desperately needed!

The Woodhull Institute offers affordable training, primarily to young women, that focuses on the tenets of ethical leadership, from the art of negotiation to financial responsibility to accountability as a leader. Retreat weekends provide women with an opportunity to take a deeper look at their lives and careers through a series of facilitated exercises in a supportive environment.

I attended the Master Class Retreat for Women Writers and I enjoyed every minute of the experience. It was such a safe, nurturing environment. I especially enjoyed the camaraderie with the other women as we sat around the fire after hours and talked or sat at the table eating and discussing life. I was surprised by the eclectic mix of writers, so different from the MFA experience, but I felt that having such a diverse group with so many diverse goals broadened my experience and allowed for more creative learning between the participants. I also truly enjoyed meeting all of the mentors, and having the opportunity for individual sessions to discuss individual goals and individual challenges. I think everyone needs to go on a Woodhull Retreat! Seriously! To enjoy such a positive, affirmative experience in which we are all so well cared for and so deliciously fed is such a treat. Writing is solitary labor and understanding how to get your work out there can seem so daunting at times. This is why I think Woodhull is all the more important. It is really difficult being a woman writer and finding mentors and a supportive environment in which to share your work. So I was especially happy to learn that maintaining a relatioship with Woodhull is encouraged and I intend to take advantage of that in every way possible.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in instrinsic ways. After the retreat, I am now able to better focus an essay I have been working on for years but which had still eluded me a little. The experience was so inspiring. I also received lots of concrete advise from the mentoring writers that I think I will experience the results of this organization for years to come in all kinds of positive ways I can't fully foresee yet.

Woodhull's Young Women's Retreat was a wonderful experience! I was able to overcome many personal challenges during the leadership training, and since the atmosphere was so supportive, I came out of this experience feeling much more confident in myself. The other women on the retreat were incredibly inspiring, as were the faculty that lead the retreat. Overall, this was an invaluable experience - I would highly recommend it to anyone interested.

The Woodhull Institute is a place where women can share their dreams, hopes, and concerns for the future, while learning the skills needed to overcome doubt and empower themselves and others. The Young Women's Ethical Leadership Training provided a safe space for me to identify personal and societal obstacles to achieving my goals. Through informative and engaging workshops, I was able to hone in on not only what holds me back, but what will help move me forward in my life. The best part of all was being surrounded by strong, intelligent and truly inspiring women who were all dealing with or have dealt with some of the issues I face, creating an atmosphere of positivity and excitement I was missing in my personal network. I am so grateful for my experience at Woodhull and have recommended it to all of my female friends and family.

Woodhull offers the chance of a life time pairing leadership training with ethics: a combination not often explored. The trainings are unique and the support continues after the weekend ends. I recommend this organization to women frequently because of how it changed my life. I feel more in control of my life, particularly my business transactions.

I went to the College Women's Leadership Retreat on April 23-25 hosted by the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership. It was the best leadership retreat I have ever been to. The relaxing and safe country environment allowed me to focus on what the retreat offered and was a great time to spend away from school and works. Small group settings made us know each other in a short period of time, and we became good friends because of it. The content of the retreat was well designed. Various workshops were covered from professional development to personal growth. The yoga class, public speaking training, negotiation skills class, and financial management class all motivated me and made me more confident in terms of facing a professional environment. Since this is my senior year, all the skills and technique I learned there are crucial and I would definitely utilize them in the rest of my life. Last but not the least, because of the retreat, I met all those promising college students and successful young professionals. They are truly an inspiration and role model for me.

Woodhull transformed my whole life perspective! I feel supported and empowered by the Woodhull community of Alumnae and staff. I attended a retreat well over a year ago and still today have fond memories of the experience I had. The workshops were practical and efficiently taught and the network of Woodhull women is fabulous! I recommend this retreat to all of my friends who are recent graduates or looking to enhance their professional lives!
