Women's ENews is a vital source of information for me and for my community of gender experts. I work on gender and sustainable development and use the network to keep myself upto date with their excellent daily bulletins on all issues topical. I often share some of the information with colleagues and friends to keep us all updated on international news regarding women, their successes and challenges

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Receiving daily news bulletins on issues pertaining to women, the abuse of their human rights and the successes achieved on the global stage for women also.

I read Women's eNews every day. As a Gender Studies educator, Women's eNews keeps me up to date on what is happening to/for/by women every day, and I am truly grateful for this service. That's why I donate.

I can't stress highly enough the importance of Women's ENews. There is so little that focuses on the lives, concerns and achievements of women. Women's lives have become a kind of "lost world" both in history and in the world today. Women's ENews goes some way to righting that balance so that we are able to gain more perspective in our personal and public lives.

Finding Women's eNews opened the door to a whole new world for me. Having a news organization focused solely on covering the vastly under-reported stories of women around the world brings a level of awareness and knowledge into my life that I can't get anywhere else. It is also encouraging to know Women's eNews supports young journalists and seeks out new voices to continue this tradition of women-centered news. I especially enjoy the global perspective.

As a columnist-activist, I have found womensenews reports extremely interesting as well as informative, and have benefited from being on their listserv.I have mentioned wemensenwes during my presentations on and off campus, and in writing my papers for various feminist conferences worldwide. I have been receiving their reports for at least four years, regularly.

I first learned of Women's eNews in 2004 when they recognized the Women's Technology Cluster's (now known as Astia) work in increasing access to capital for women in business. As I learned more about Women's eNews, I realized the power and impact of a media source that spoke for women dedicated to shedding a light and perspective on the news of the day. Rita Henley Jensen and her team consistently report, day in and day out, on issues affecting women everywhere in the world - healthcare, the economy, politics, culture - in a manner that tells the impact on women. This is no small feat. Women's eNews impact isn't limited to their journalism however, Their annual 21 Leaders for the 21st Century provides a platform for recognizing outstanding women and men whose work makes a difference in women's lives. So often in recognitions, women are overlooked or delegated to a "women's" category. The 21 Leaders program recognizes leadership in business, non-profits, the arts, healthcare and civic engagement. Moreover, for many of these leaders, the recognition gives their organizations and efforts greater access to resources and the opportunity for a larger impact. Women's eNews is beginning to get up to speed in social media (they have a Facebook fan page and a Twitter feed @womens_enews) and I hope they will aggressively use social media to reach women wherever they are on line.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the attention the 21 Leaders award gave to my organization, the Women's Technology Cluster, and to my own career. The national recognition set me apart and opened up new opportunities.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the dedication and responsibility they carry in covering news and its impact on women.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be the NPR/Economist for half the world's population, reflecting their interests and concerns.

I came across Women’s eNews mid-November. As if by divine intervention, I was face to face with a small non-profit organization dedicated to improving the media image of women through digital journalism. The daily stories covered by Women’s eNews are those that are often neglected in “big media” because they do not cater to an "interesting" demographic. Along with feminist driven issues, everyday stories are taken and given new perspective, illustrating its affect on women. Along with spreading the message through their website Women’s eNews hosts numerous events to help create awareness of both women’s struggles and accomplishments. Book signings, movie screening, history walks and information session are among the countless events hosted. Perhaps the most prominent and important event is the annual 21 Leaders for the 21st Century Gala each May. This gala honors twenty women and one man who have made a positive impact on the lives of women. This year was my first in attendance and I have never before felt so much energy and power in a room full of driven and accomplished individuals. Working with Women's eNews has been invaluable to me.It is rare to come across a group that, while small, is so motivated and dedicate to their cause. This organization has made leaps and bounds in the world of media shedding light on true issues and branching out into other countries and languages. Women's eNews has left no rock unturned when it comes to spreading their message and awareness as they continue to broadcast the word loud and clear.

I could not be more thankful that my path crossed with Women's eNews. After attending an International Women’s Day luncheon held in their office and getting acquainted with the editor-in-chief, Rita Henley Jensen, I was offered an internship position that I could not pass up. I shared with Rita that I had been struggling for years trying to transition into the non-profit sector and a week later, I received an email asking that I come into the office to discuss an internship opportunity. Not only have I always wanted to work for a non-profit organization, but I have always had a passion for women's issues and for being a part of a community that gives women the voices they deserve. Well, Women's eNews does exactly that! Its dedication to international, as well as domestic coverage, of stories is impressive and enlightening. Coming from a Middle-Eastern and Muslim background, I appreciate the work that Women's eNews does internationally and the way in which it covers issues and stories that would otherwise go unheard. It has been an invaluable work experience to witness this organization's unique ability to bring together women from all different backgrounds, industries, and cultures to unite their forces and join together in the cause of celebrating and empowering women worldwide.

As a woman, mom and working journalist, I feel women's enews fills a void in media coverage, searching around the world for the kinds of stories which might go untold. It's an important voice.
