I was recently honored by Women's E-News as one of 21 Leaders for the 21st Century, along with 20 other amazing recipients. One was a man doing legal work on behalf of battered women. Other leaders included a doctor working in faraway places for maternal health and child well-being; women completing a Torah; policy makers;a fabulous 88 year old journalist courageously reporting throughout her life, and now onto a new project. The breadth and diversity of these leaders included, black, white, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, young, old, men, women from many parts of the globe. We had the pretty the passable, and the downright unclassifiable, and we were all dressed up, down, or well, how shall I say? uniquely. Pretty much like the world. This event was a microcosm: Women's E-News brings awareness TO the world, and FROM the world to all of us about women's issues and how important is is for women to be involved on every level on a global basis because the world works better when women are involved. Take Norway: they didn't go belly up. Why? Partly due to WOMEN being involved at higher levels with the economy. Yes to Women's E-News. They are dedicated, reliable, and trustworthy. It's one of the best run non-profits I know of effectively working to empower women across class, race, ethnic, religious and power divides. By sharing their knowledge every day, they are networking and uniting across boundaries for a purpose. I am a supporter, reader and enthusiast! Read Women's-E-News, get involved. Makes you know you can do something great every day.

I have served as Legislative Coordinator (lobbyist)of our Arizona NOW and as as Co-Coordinator (Co-president) of our SC/WV NOW chapter. As such, I have subscribed to Women's E-news to learn and share information about the status of women in the U.S. and world-wide and the efforts and activities of Women's E-News and other organizations to assist and support women as they seek opportunities to achieve the education and training that will allow them to acquire means and equity to improve improved quality of life for themselves and their families.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

expanding my knowledge about the value of networking and sharing knowledge of the needs of women and how these needs are being met through the cooperation of and support by organizations like Women's E-News.

Women’s eNews establishes news support for all aspects of women’s daily lives. Whether readers are interested in health, media, labor, justice, culture and more, Women’s eNews provides a service for women to remain informed. As a coworker at a nonprofit where entrepreneurs, investors, corporate officials, sector experts and service providers meet to build great women-led business together, I can appreciate how Women’s eNews educates and connects women with each other through the media.

Women's eNews is a reliable and resourceful news service that not only provides relevant news affecting women all over the world, but also takes great pride in calling itself a leading women's rights advocate. Through my internship at Women's eNews, I developed an acute sense of professionalism, improved my communication skills, and understood what it takes to run a non-profit effectively. I admire Ms. Rita Henley Jensen's commitment to fulfilling the non-profit's mission and her continuous dedication to educate and inform the readers.

Women's eNews cares - about women, and not just white feminists - but African-Americans, Arab women, Muslim women around the world. They used to print an edition in Arabic until money woes following the stock crash forced that to fold, but they still do what they can. Editor in chief Rita Henley Jensen has worked tirelessly to develop a series of articles on why black women die more often in childbirth than white women - in America, not just in third world countries. She gets it about white feminists being remote from the worries of women of color and works hard to cross the divides of race and class.

Learning things about the links between infant mortality and race that I didn't know; I use it to research stories of concern to women around the globe - they publish stories others simply don't cover or haven't even heard of.

Just thought I would clarify-- we do still have an Arabic sister site - www.awomensenews.org which is updated regularly. This site, still using the old Women's eNews web design will be updated over the next year so it's as user friendly and accessible as the redesign of the English website. Thank you for your great review!

WomensENews provides me with information and inspiration in a way that no other organization does. The general media tends to ignore the wide world of so called women's issues - which in fact affect the health and wellbeing not only of women, but of families and communities. Educating women raises the socio-economic level of the whole community. Understanding women's issues around the globe is crucial to developing a humane and sustainable world.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Helping me make decisions about how to spend my time, energy and money.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would provide them with more resources. Like many nonprofits, it does its superior work on a shoe string.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It is a totally reliable source of news about women - generally ignored by the general media and crucial to the understanding of how the world is progressing or not.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Totally dedicated, caring, passionate, professional.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Get the news out to the world and hopefully make a bigger positive difference in the lives of women and families and communities.

Ways to make it better...

Not applicable

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money, resources and PR

One thing I'd also say is that...

The lack of resources has nothing to do with the professionalism of the organization. It reflects the fact that even in the US, women are still 2nd class citizens - glass ceiling and all.

Women's eNews keeps my spirits up by letting me know of the many other women in the world helping others. They are a great group and should be recognized for all their assistance. Thank you for letting us tell our stories.

I love Women's Enews. It is my only source for breaking news and local stories that really focuses on women in a systematic and thorough way. Women's Enews is dogged about finding news relevant to the plight of women. I especially love their Jeers and Cheers section.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I read ENews once a week and always feel like a better person for it.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change programming in schools, promote gender equality in schools and communities, create contests to stimulate female involvement.
