I have four kids and was in an abusive relationship with their father. Women's Emergency Network was able to help me when I found out that I was pregnant again.

I have been able to leave my ex and begin a new life with the help of their assistance. I don't have much, but I have great
thanks for them in my time of need.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

They helped me fund the procedure and find other agencies to help me break free.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Ask people that can donate to donate to them because there are many women like me that want to make a change but can't because of lack of funds.

My name is Joy Snir, I am 31 years old, I am a licensed nail technician and because of the recession business got slow and my license expired and didn't have enough money for renewal! I decided to find some work and wasn't able to find for a couple months so I decided to go the unthinkable route of becoming an escort! On the job, I was raped by a client! Now I just found out recently that I am pregnant and was unaware! I went to go take care of it and thought it was the minimum, but come to find out I am far along for a regular abortion, and learned it is going to cost me 800 dollars! I reached out to Women's Emergency at 7400 S.W. 88th St. suite 204, Miami Fl 33159 and told them my story, and they denied me the assistance! I also tried the National Network of Abortions as well and they have a recording for the funding to try them back every few minutes, I Have been doing that for 4 days straight and emailing them, and nothing! P.S.: Is there anyone or group that is able to help me before it is to late and I have to have this baby, you can contact me at 305-812-1226 my name is Joy Snir

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Nothing, they never helped me!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Not pleasent and no help at all!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

They would have helped me if this was true!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The Help!

One thing I'd also say is that...

They are not doing their job!

Every day the mail brings requests for donations, most of them urgent and worthwhile. The Women's Emergency Network is at the top of my list because it is small, with a clearly defined purpose. It has no grandiose slogans or mailings, and its staff of volunteers are filled with integrity. I trust WEN and believe in its good work.

I have been an Administrative Assistant for the past 5 years for WEN. Over the years I have personally seen the help WEN has given to low-income and indigent women and girls. With WEN's support, financially and emotionally these women and young girls are able to make a choice and go on with their life. Without the assistance of funds for abortions and counselling for affective birth control these women would be lost in a predictable cyle of hopelessness.

This organization has operated in South Florida now for close to 20 years, steadily growing and providing services to the increasing proportion of poor women living in a state with no public funding for abortion. WEN has taken on both the "routine" clients - the many many poor women with other children at home, the women trying to finish degrees or get jobs that will unable them to better care for the children they have or plan to have, and the egregious cases of the women who are raped, mentally challenged, or the victims of sexual slavery. They also have provided invaluable help with the judicial bypass system for minors who cannot obtain the state required parental consent. The organization has always kept its administrative costs to a bare minimum through the efforts of the hard working almost entirely volunteer staff. Their clients come well-counseled about both their decision to end the pregnancy and about options for future birth control.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

ensure that all women in south florida had not only access to abortion services, but to effective contraception and sexually transmitted disease screening and care, and the mental and social services required to foster health families.....

I was often overwhelmed by the situations of low-income women needing reproductive health care assistance. Rarely was that the only crisis in their lives---often they were unemployed, homeless, ill, etc. WEN was there to help them begin to deal with these issues.
