I am a professional jazz musician, singer, composer and lyricist born in the US and currently residing in Italy. The non-profit Women in Jazz South Florida is the first oganization I have joined as the mission is to promote the unique and precious artform that is Jazz on an International level. In my professional life I have personally strived to make the music, its origins and its significance known to the public and the media. To achieve this most effectively it calls for a committed, energetic and prepared leadership such as that provided by Joan Cartwright. She has documented the history of this music and moves forward to protect this music from whims, fashion and dilettantes.
I am proud to be part of an iniative guaranteeing that Jazz will endure, as it should, as the rich tapestry of Its United States, and Black origins, offered freely to an ideally free world. As it was said many times during the tumultuous century during which it was born, [Jazz] or Rhythm saved the world! So be it.

Women in Jazz, South Florida is an organization dedicated to empowering women jazz musicians. They have been very helpful in promoting my performances and the leader, Joan Cartwright is a dedicated and energetic woman in jazz, who devotes much time to promoting other women and the organization. She does everything in her power to help women get recognition in the field of jazz.

In 2007, I founded this organization to promote women musicians, globally. Since then, we have recruited 135 members, 60 are musicians, 24 are men and 6 are students. We have completed many grant-funded projects with women, men, students and seniors. We have had two Board of Directors. The music of 10 fabulous female composers has been archived on our first compilation CD released in January 2011. Presently, we are promoting our Jazz For Peace fundraiser with Rick DellaRatta on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL to raise funds for a tour to Italy in June 2011, to meet with Donne in Musica, an organization that produces musical concerts and archives women's music. We hope to create a cultural exchange between Fiuggi, Italy, and Lauderhill, FL, where a new performing arts center will be completed in 2012. For more information on WIJSF, go to our website: www.wijsf.org and become a member or donate to our cause to promote women musicians, globally.

Besides performing, I've produced several events in the past four years engaging women musicians. I produced the first compilation CD with 10 fabulous female composers. See: www.wijsf.com/JazzComp1.htm. I've raised over $40,000 in the past 4 years to carry on the work of the organization.

Recruit more members and identify donors to raise money for concerts, archived music compilations and continue the work to promote women musicians.
