Women Empowered (WE) is incredible, vibrant, and thriving! Shelly started the group as a simple get-together but she has developed it into a solid non-profit that truly adds value to the lives of its members, volunteers, mentees, and anyone who gets involved in any way. I have known about this group for about 3 months, and already have a mentee, an inspiring network of women, a solid sense of women's success, and tons of outlets for giving back to the community. This is a dynamic group of women- all ages, backgrounds, economic status, careers, etc. I love it! The group is personable, engaging, and very interested in seeing women grow and develop professionally, personally, and socially. WE hosts entrepreneurship events, mentor/mentee events, fundraising events, health and fitness events, and a book club! All great things rolled into one group. I am so glad I met Shelly and am now an official WE member. Thank you

Women Empowered has been such a special gift to me. Thank you so much Shelly for sharing your vision. I am finally developing solid, quality relationships with women from all walks of life who share similar goals. I am certain it is because of WE that I have had such a shift in my frame of mind. They offer so many empowering and inspiring programs and events. I always leave this group of women feeling refreshed, hopeful, accepted, loved and inspired!

First of all I would like to say Thank you Shelly for everything you do and this incredible organization that I am so proud to be a part of !!! My time and experience with Women Empowered (WE) has been Life Changing in many ways. I have met some of the most amazing women who have now become a huge part of my life. Women Empowered (WE) has given me many opportunities to grow and challenge myself in becoming a better person as we help one another. Thank you again !!!

I couldn’t feel more rewarded to know that my time has helped create empowering experiences for women in Los Angeles! WE’s members have the opportunity to take various seminars and classes focusing on ways to empower one’s life, attain and maintain financial wellness, as well as a healthy well-being. Throughout the years we have worked with the staff of the Downtown Women Shelter providing lunches, activities, and services. WE has also partnered with various organizations that are aligned with our mission to empower women! The organization Girls Today Women Tomorrow holds a special place in our hearts, WE has provided yoga workshops, sharing circles, and various empowering activities for the girls of GTWT. Many of our members are now mentoring these young women in order to help guide them toward creating their own opportunities for success!

Over the past two and a half years, Women Empowered (WE) became an important part of my life. This organization provided me with both philanthropic and social opportunities. My involvement with WE enabled me to meet intelligent and ambitious women in the Los Angeles area, who are interested in empowering themselves by volunteering in the community, networking, and focusing on self-improvement.

What feels more like home than making gingerbread houses together with our friends and sisters? Gingerbread House Making is one of the many thoughtful and creative workshops that WE has coordinated for the homeless and low-income women in the Skid Row community. WE has volunteered with us at the Downtown Women's Center on several occasions and always brings strong organization and creativity to their volunteer experience. The women that we serve really appreciate the resources and love that WE puts into each workshop that they plan for the women at our Center. We look forward to the Beauty Day that they are planning for us in June, and to many more enriching workshops with Women Empowered!

WOW! So Impressed with these ladies! I met Shelly when she came to my business for an appointment. We sat and talked on end about her inspiring story and her journey with WE. It was incredibly touching and I was over-joyed to have the opportunity to donate my business services to the WE fundraising event! (and even more excited when she invited me to attend!) Upon arriving at the event, let me just say - these girls over-deliver!
Shelly's passion for women's empowerment was visible everywhere from the minute I walked in! Her huge vision and giving heart has created a community of strong, beautiful women who are truly making a difference on this planet. The fundraiser was immaculate it it's appearance, the crowd, and the un-believable donations these ladies were able to receive for their silent auction.
I can't say enough good things about WE and my joy in now being a member! I look forward to continued memories and friendships that will bloom out of this beautiful women's organization.
GO LADIES! And THANK YOU for coming from the heart and sharing your light with the world!

WE is an amazing organization dedicated to inspiring and motivating growth, compassion, kindness, and more. WE encourages the building of friendships and connections between women of all walks of life. Dedicated to helping the community in a variety of fun, empowering, educational and humbling ways, WE is unique in its focus on personal growth, happiness and wellness of each member through various group activities and events in addition to community work. This organization understands the busy lives of the women involved, and encourages participation while appreciating every minute (even if it's just a minute) that is spent with WE. Exceptional organization..

WE is about letting women share their care. The care is expressed among members who catch up on each others lives in between events. The care is expressed by creating sentimental cards for children in depressed environments. The care is showcased by pampering homeless women in downtown Los Angeles with jewelry workshops and massages. The care is transferred from adult role models to young teens through nature hikes, dance classes and professional basketball games. Women Empowered is a rewarding experience for all those who take a moment to share their care.

...by video taping the expressions of gratitude from the residents of the DWC. It's amazing what a two-hour pampering workshop will do for residents who face so much despair when they look outside their window. We cooked lunch for them and shared conversations. It was inspiring on both sides.

...get sponsors so more programs can be held to share the care with a larger audience.

Women Empowered is truly a POWERFUL group, it does things, hands-on, having an immediate and profound impact in improving the lives of women and girls, and the world generally! And we like each other very much, engaging in social and supportive activities among ourselves. Begun by the dynamic and resourceful Shelly Ulaj, it is active and "percolating happily." She and her Board are great at finding meaningful projects and activities for us.

I was first introduced to WE through very dear friends of mine. Although I grew up in the Los Angeles area, I found it was hard to meet people, let alone those with similar interests and values. WE has introduced me some wonderful women and brought the philanthropic aspect into my life that I always thought about doing. In such a short amount of time, WE has amazingly grown with the help, dedication, and love of its founder and members. Unfortunately, my schedule does not allow me to give too much to WE, but that will be changing soon and I am very much looking forward to being able to give much more to such an inspiring organization.
