What a great space for women to thrive. Nice to see the art. Shame they do not have more room.

Hello Beate, I sold my first painting in a gallery when you were on Prairie Avenue. I took a friend to the gallery, and she said "You have a red dot on your painting, what does that mean?" I asked. It was sold. Who Knew. I heard (true or not) that the woman who bought it, sent her chauffer to pick it up. I love the gallery, have donated money, and only wish I didn't live so far away, so I could go to the openings; also the neighborhood is a parking challenge. Best Wishes. ( I was also in a show about four, five years ago.) Margaret Newman PS: When you were on Ravenswood, a Tribune reporter took a photo of my painting "Girlfriends" and an interview , and the painting was in the art page. Your gallery has been good to me.

I am an artist and have showed my work many times at Woman Made Gallery. It is one of the few galleries that supports all level of work for women. They have juried shows which attract artists and the public alike. It is a beautiful gallery, that shows the art to advantage. The director cares for the artists with nurturing and advice. I have sold my work there, because the opening of new shows attracts a great many people. The best!

I am an artist and am 67 years old. I am involved with WomanMade Gallery because their mission is to support womyn and their art. This matches my life-long intimate beliefs that our art has been under-appreciated, discounted, discouraged, and swept under the proverbial rug for eons in this (sorry to be cliché and obvious at the same time!) male-dominated society. And that our art is pertinent and needs to be in the forefront -- in public spaces, with public faces! This is what WomanMade strives to do. And I appreciate it so much. It's not "a man's world" at WomanMade -- it's a shared world and it's thriving.

WomanMade is a gutsy gallery for women mostly and it is full of gutsy classy art. They have filled a need in me to show my work in a place where woman and creativity count. I have been in several shows there. I have also been in shows elsewhere in Chicago. I think they are in the mainstream in the art world.

Woman Made Gallery in Chicago supports, cultivates, and promotes the artistic endeavors of women. The gallery provides a voice and a showcase for those who have traditionally been underrepresented in the gallery scene. I first took a workshop at Woman Made many years ago and immediately thereafter became a member. The art I make today wouldn't be possible without the support of Beate and everyone else at Woman Made. You know how they say you "never forget your first time"? Well, I had my first solo show at Woman Made, and it made all the difference!

When I was starting out as an artist and wondering how to get my work seen by others, I took a workshop at Woman Made Gallery. i was impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff, and from then on I was hooked. I not only attended more workshops, but I also entered shows at the gallery and eventually became a volunteer.
Galleries are often thought of as cold and unwelcoming--and rightly so in many cases. But Woman Made is different. It has a warm, nurturing atmosphere, and the staff gently guides each artist toward creating her (or his) best work.

The gallery staff, especially gallery director Beate Minkovski and gallery co-founder Janet Bloch, have mentored me tirelessly and given me so much confidence as an artist. They have been endlessly supportive.

. . . find a way to give it a ton of money! Nonprofits have a hard time at best, and the current economy is killing many of them. Woman Made deserves to go on and on.
I helped with the organization and planning of the WMG Gala fundraising dinner event. I was impressed by the camaraderie, high morale, and supportive atmosphere of the group.

What energy! The moment you walk into the space you are transformed by the creative energy. I have been a member since, well, Praire Ave, & can't keep track of time. Walking into that extraordinary building was like comeing home. So welcoming. So encouraging, We in the Chicago-land area are blessed somehow to have this opportunity to share in our lives. The moves the gallery has made are bringing new enlightment to every community and engage those lucky enough to have stumbled into the doors,

I truly enjoy viewing the variety of artistic works displayed during the shows given by Woman's Made Gallery. Whether one enjoys scuptures, paintings or photography, the artists use unique materials to graphically display the emotions they are attempting to tell. I look forward to each show, and can not wait to see everything in 2012.

I have viewed several of the exhibits at Woman Made Gallery. It is difficult for me to pick which one I like the most. It is wonderful that there is a place and organization that gives the opportunity for individual artists to display their artwork. From needlework and painting to mixed media it is great to see the detail the artist produces. I think one of the best was a representation of something I also experienced, the decline of a loved ones health. The artwork, a series of pictures, tactfully and artfully expressed the feelings I felt. They do a great job, and with them being a not for profit organization, I personally help them by assisting in a monitary donation, to keep them open for us all.

Woman Made Gallery is a rare organization that provides an opportunity for women artists to show their works in a gorgeous gallery space in Chicago. In a male dominated art world, this is invaluable. I will always submit to and support Woman Made Gallery.

As a female artist, I have found Woman Made Gallery to be one of the best places to submit and show works. They offer so many opportunities with their juried calls and I have been able to show my works here more than anywhere else. I don't know what I would do without Woman Made!

I would love to see a resident artist program.
I participated in a group show "Abstractions" at Woman Made Gallery. It was a good experience, there was a good variety of work by artists from all over the country. The reception went well with a lot of people attending. Dropping off my artwork for the show was easy.
