WHY is a wonderful and very important organization who works on a grassroots level and has such far reaching effect on a fundamental issue that faces our country and the world.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

thoughtful, smart and empowering

I have been involved with WHY for 15 years as a volunteer and volunteer supervisor. It would be difficult to find an organization that has such a dedicated staff to do somuch with so little. Support is needed to build assistance programs and public awareness.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the high quality of both the paid and volunteer staff. Itwould be difficult to find a more dedicated group.

This organization is truly rooted in to many communities around the world. The dedicated staff truly cares about it's mission. WHY is a credible organization that I have been involved with since 1980. Very innovative and dedicated to serving those in need. Raising money through Hungerthon or promoting good work with the WHY Harry Chapin Media Awards - Great work by WHY! I trust that WHY will always do the right thing and that is why I dedicate my time to them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing first hand communities and people who have benefited from WHY.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The people. The staff is long term dedicated individuals that work well together - working towards one common goal.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, caring and concerned about hunger.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Grow and reach more communities. Educate more people to become self reliant. Get the help to the people who need it most. End Hunger & Poverty.

Beneficial work for hungry people worldwide; innovative fundraising that targets in part young people through contemporary and legacy musical artists. Hungerthon another big event.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a giant dent in solving world hunger.

WHY is doing the type of work that needs to be done in this country -- and often falls through the cracks. They deserve to be recognized for their important contributions to the lives of so many people.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the WHY media awards -- recognizing the kind of important journalism for hunger and poverty that is often not recognized by financial means and needs to be supported!

I first got involved with WHY as a member of the review committee for the Harry Chapin Hunger and Media Awards. I was honored when this unique organization asked me to join its board of directors, and since becoming a member 4 years ago, I have grown ever more impressed with its commitment and performance.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The up to date information and resources provided by its Food Security Learning Center. It is great to have such a well maintained resource to which I can refer students who develop an interest in creative solutions to hunger and poverty

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

watching it develop and improve it performance. WHY has always had its heart in the right place, but under the leadership of its current staff, I've watched its head catch up with its heart. It could serve as a case study in "continuous improvement."

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extraordinarily dedicated, generous, talented and creative!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Dramatically expand its capacity to empower local grassroots organizations to address the fundamental causes of hunger and poverty, and increase its impact on public policy through outreach and education (and rent office space adequate to these tasks).

I've been involved with World Hunger Year for 28 years. For the first 3 years I was a volunteer - and then I was invited to join the staff. I never cease to be proud of the quality and body of work WHY does. It motives me each day to want to raise money to keep us moving forward. I am impressed by our international work, our national work - and most especially by our hunger hotline.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the professionalism and devotion of our amazing staff.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

... ARE ... totally committed both to WHY and to resolving the issues of hunger and poverty. I am impressed with the degree that staffer and volunteer takes their commitment to WHY and ending hunger and poverty.

Working with WHY is nothing but a wonderful experience. They give us the channel to contribute and make sure we know how much that assistance is helping others. In a recent event we were able to see actual footage of the WHY's recipients and it made me wish for more hours to do more for them.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the results via video.

I was recently involved with WHY through the band that I work with and their involvement with the Hard Rock Cafe's IMAGINE THERE'S NO HUNGER program. We had an amazing opportunity to go and do two site visits at New York City urban farms last month. It was incredible to see what these communities were able to develop in the most unlikely of places such as an abandon lot or a space adjacent to a NYC subway stop. With the help of WHY these farms are providing so much to the community: wonderful fresh produce, work skills for teenagers, involvement of the whole community including preschoolers and seniors, and so much more. The team of people working at WHY are a great group of people and so dedicated and passionate about the work that they do. I really look forward to working with them again in the future and continuing to help support WHY and their amazing programs.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a huge strides in bringing about the end to hunger and poverty throughout the world. They not only provide food to those in need but they also provide tools and resources so that they can one day provide for themselves.

My experience working with WHY has been phenomenal. The team at WHY are very professional and very compassionate about their jobs. I have personally worked with WHY on three separate fundraisers over the past couple of years: July 2008 in conjunction with the Crosby Stills and Nash concert, July 2009 in conjunction with the Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire concert and then this past November in conjunction with Carlos Santana. We have been very appreciative of the relationships we have developed as a direct result of the introductions made to us through our partnership with WHY.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the staff. They go above and beyond in ensuring that hunger relief organizations across the country have the resources and support needed to impact local communities.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

phenomenal, warm, caring and compassionate individuals. They demonstrate a sense of urgency in tackling the issues of hunger and poverty.
