Wheat Ridge Ministries provides seed grants for creative ministry projects focused on health and healing that emerge within local congregations. I have been co-recipient of a grant, as well as serve on their board of directors. I am awed by how the funds they provide are multiplied many times in the quality and quantity of community service by those fledgling organizations that receive grants.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

1. Receiving Funding Grant, 2 Working with organizations they support, and 3 Now serving on their Board of Directors

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Wheat Ridge Ministries should have three times the amount of financial support, so they could multiply their effective granting model and provide even more support for emerging creative service concepts.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They are willing to take the risk and seed innovative ideas and help get them started when other foundations would find the ideas too risky or the organization too new.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Absolutely first class in experience, skill, and personal commitment.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It has already seeded 1,500 new ministries over the past 25 years -- many of which have grown into large, stable service organizations. With 10 Million they could seed 200 new projects per year, rather than the 100 range limit.

Ways to make it better...

This is an amazingly efficient and effective organization. The highly capable staff really cares and supports creative ventures with encouragement and expertise as well as dollars. I cannot suggest any improvement at this time.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Their story is little known outside of their historic audience. The way they seed new ministry programs, invest in energetic emerging leaders, and develop new service efforts that offer hope and healing to the whole person should receive wider attention.

One thing I'd also say is that...

A dollar given to most nonprofits at best results in a service value of one dollar. A dollar given to Wheat Ridge Ministries for their Seed Grant Ministry is leveraged through volunteer efforts tenfold at minimum -- an amazing use of the dollar!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
