I am 55 with a disability. My landlady rented a room to me knowing the dwelling had no heat, the roof leaked, the dwelling was constantly filthy and the other tenant was a nine times convicted very violent felon who threatened my life. When I could finally afford to move, I sued her in small claims court. West Marin Senior Services provided her with a caseworker who harassed me and a lawyer to help her in my lawsuit against her. All the claims of the physical condition of the property were documented by an inspection of the county code enforcement division which forceful her to correct the violations and many others I was not aware of. Knowing all that this nonprofit still used donor and tax payer dollars to defend what is essentially a slumlord because the woman was over 65. I consider that to be a gross moral and ethical violation as they hounded me on her behalf.
