WeSPARK is a caring, loving, wonderful support organization for people battling cancer. The volunteers and supporters are first rate, and the gratitude their care generates is heartfelt and palpable. All charity groups could benefit by observing WeSPARK.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I was fortunate to meet Wendi Jo many years ago when Wespark was getting off the ground.I have personally watched as Wepark grew. Always thru hard work and dedication of its volunteers and members. They do so much with so little and fill a huge void. They know more about there issue than most. This is due to most of there staff being personally involved in there issue. I donate to WeSpark every year becasue I know that every dollar goes to helping people, not like alot of other big foundations.

I feel WeSpark has provided a valuable and necessary outlet and support environment for both patient's and family members to be able to cope with the situation at hand. Everyone there is warm and attentive to the needs of the people it is serving.

Two of my friends who underwent the terribly traumatic experience of having breast cancer turned to weSpark in search of a dedicated and caring support group. They spoke so highly of the organization that I felt compelled to become a donor. I've also had the opportunity to attend several tai chi classes held there. Seeing those survivors participating in the class and sharing it with them brings a whole new meaning to the words hope and peace. It is indeed a privilege to be part of such a meaningful organization!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

how it helped reshape the lives of my two friends who are breast cancer survivors, as well as my own life.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

definitely try to find a way to better promote the weSpark programs, especially in reaching those who have family members or friends who have (or have had) cancer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the infectious spirit and positive attitudes of the people I've met there--survivors, staff, and volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

simply down-to-earth people, so pleasant and kind.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand to a larger location to accommodate more people who could benefit so much from weSpark efforts to rebuild cancer-shattered lives.

Ways to make it better...

my work schedule allowed me time to stop by more often and meet additional survivors--the true backbone of the group.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

maintaining its presence in this day and time when financial difficulties are at the forefront for so many smaller and important organizations.

One thing I'd also say is that...

perhaps a staggered hours approach might be something to consider: for example, a same-day morning and afternoon session of a program (so those who can't get to a morning class wold have an afternoon option).

We Spark offers a unique environment for patients and their families who are suffering with cancer. They give people a place to go where they can garner support and advice. Sherman Oaks is very lucky to have this center.

Friendly and caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

open a center in another part of LA.

Ways to make it better...

They had centers in different parts of the city

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the economy lowers donations.

One thing I'd also say is that...

they have carried on nicely with Wendy Jo's vision.

I am fortunate to have had the honor of supporting this organization from its inception, and blessed to never have had to access the remarkable benefits of its staff and services. As a member of the community I believe that weSPARK is the essence of providing the right support to the most basic needs of people faced with these challenges, and that is compassion and the tools to be a warrior in their own lives. As an artist it is always my honor to support in my own small way by giving of my work and I will continue to do so.

WeSPARK is a tremendous organization with heart. They have helped so many families dealing with cancer. Their activities and support groups are invaluable to the people who need them. I have been a WeSPARK supporter for years. Their contribution to the community has brought awareness and hope to many who had lost faith that the world could be a better place.

When they say "Laughter is the best medicine" it is true. The friends at wespark are what Martin was to Lewis and Hope was to Crosby. They needed each other to bring happiness to people lives. Wespark brings joy to so many. The events they host are all about lifting spirits. It just works!!!!!!!!!!!--kk

Over the past 4 years I've been fortunate to witness to the wonderful work WeSpark is doing first hand. Their support of families dealing with Cancer is something to behold. From their hands on approach in support of families dealing with this dreaded disease to their fund raising activities that make all this work possible, WeSpark is a tremendous organization.

The energy and effort that in on display at each and every event they put on. They make being part of their efforts feel like the best thing you could possibly be doing.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Hardworking, dedicated, committed, passionate and caring. They are involved for all the right reasons. They display the courage and determination of the person that started the organization, Wendy Jo Sperber.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Bring a lot of comfort, encouragement, support and caring to a much larger group then it currently does.
