Wendie Jo Sperber's legacy is weSPARK, a place where people with cancer, their families and friends can seek support in a variety of ways, all FREE of charge, in an environment that is warm, friendly, supportive and homey. This is a concept that should be franchised nationwide.

I have worked and met with most all the staff at WeSpark and they truly hold my highest regards for their passion and dedication to their cause. I have seen numerous guest (patients) who come to WeSpark for some form of support and they have always been welcomed and nurtured with open arms and without descrimination to any particular circumstance. I have had the pleasure of working with this fine organization and look forward to on many accounts in the future. Without any reservation, I highly recommend anyone to be involved themselves with WeSpark on some level.

having so many opportunities to give to their cause. I like working with the staff and helping in any way I can. Its a team there, but more like a family working together always do more.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
always nice and warm hearted. They exemplify the most honorable of charitable humans. They give with their hearts and their time. You can't ask for much more.

weSPARK provides an invaluable service to anyone who has been touched by cancer and unfortunately those numbers keep rising. Being able to seek help in a non-insitutional settiing aids in the healing process and allows people to join a community that relates in a stress-free environment. I have been a part of weSPARK since Wendie Jo opened the doors both as a volunteer and employee. I would love to see her dream come true; to have a center in every community where the need exists.

I arrived at WeSPARK a few weeks after completing radiation treatments for breast cancer. I was blessed to have been a part of WeSPARK while Wendy Jo the founder, was still an everyday part of activities and inspiration. I was in an abyss of depression due to handling the death of my spouse and cancer treatment without him nor family members. It is all I could do to drag myself to WeSPARK, however I found groups of other men & women who were not as fortunate as myself, Wendy for one. The other warriors and facilitators picked me up and held me while I gathered my inner strength back. I joined their yoga, ti-chi and quigon (sorry about the spelling)and volunteered at their fund raisers as I began to come back into myself. It was been 6 since I "needed" them, however, I will never forget how they saved my sanity and helped bring me back among the the living. I am cancer free these 6 years and will always be available to WeSPARK when ever I am needed, so I can assist others as they assisted me.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the free services such as yoga, massage, wigs, books, movies, and the wonderful people.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
perfect. However, some of the regular yoga instructors needed to get paid for their time.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
open in more locations nation wide.
Ways to make it better...
I could have been given a paying job there.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
keeping it feeling like a family.
One thing I'd also say is that...
i miss some of the staff that have been replaced. And I'm not crazy about some of the new "rules" that are showing up. It was more like a family and home than an organization.

Out of all the cancer support groups, this one is unique and special. The array of offerings is staggering. The committment to helping, not just the cancer patient, but their children as well, is what makes this group stand out. caring, lovely individuals, all sorts of classes and experiences and room for other family members. Absolutely fantastic.

Nearly 10 years ago I met Wendie Jo Sperber for a cup of tea. Within 15 minutes she fully described her vision for weSPARK. Within 12 months that vision was a reality. For 10 years that reality has served thousands of cancer patients as well as their friends and families. There can be no greater gift than to leave behind a legacy that serves.

weSPARK is a unique experience which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients and their families and friends. As a companion to the medical treatment a patient receives, the weSPARK programs are designed to help those affected by cancer to cope with what is probably the scariest experience they have ever had. All of the programs are free because funds are raised and more than 80 cents of every dollar goes to programming.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
expand the delivery of services to other geographic areas and allow 10 times as many people benefit. Since a high percentage of those who come to weSPARK for services end up as volunteers; it must be a great experience.

Every day I see people overjoyed with the dynamics of weSPARK. Working in the front, I hear guests exclaim that this foundaiton has saved thier life. This is a comment I hear frequently. I feel delighted to be a part of weSPARK and to see the magic that occurs within everyone that comes through here.

I have worked at weSPARK for over five years now, and I can honestly say that what we do here is really unique. Our support groups and classes help you cope with the emotional pain and devastation that come with a cancer diagnoses. Whether it’s through qi gong, yoga, support groups or reiki, we get you through some of your darkest moments. I have seen many wonderful people walk through these doors and it is very rare to not hear how grateful they are to have found us. I am honored to be a part of Wendie's dream.
