This is the first year my daughter is participating in the Junior Troupe Production at ACT. We had no idea what to expect. The first audition was incredibly encouraging and rewarding. The volunteer staff is second to none. The stage director, the music director, the choreographer, and the producer all make the experience fun; and yet the young performers are taking their responsibilities seriously. My daughter fully intends to audition every year until she graduates high school. I encourage every parent who has a child interested in exploring the arts through singing and dancing to try ACT.

I gives me great pleasure to be able to expose my family to creative productions in our community. I was introduced to this Theatre Company many years ago and have attended productions with friends, parents and my daughter throughout the years. Thanks to the Actors Conservatory Theatre, my daughter has developed a love for live performance and story telling as well as the history of theater. - Thank you ACT.

I am a nyc drama teacher and the parent of a 15 year old thespian who has been transformed by the amazing family of ACT participants. She has been given the opportunity to be a part of an amazing cast of characters and nurtured by great people. The ACT shows are brilliant. This year, courtesy of ACT generosity, 30 of my 7th grade students will witness the magic of this great organization. They will never realize the impact they have on these young lives!

On show nights and every night they have a special nack for making every individual feel very important. Every detail is attended to or it looks that way to me who has watched their incredibly organized and vibrant rehearsals.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the most friendly. I was amazed at how much personal attention each visitor recieved. from their preference of aisle seating to being ushered to their seat to a wonderful "Enjoy the Show"

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build a theatre as great as the people in it!!

Ways to make it better...

I can't imagine.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

?

One thing I'd also say is that...

I hope they last forever! they are truly passionate and generous!

I have been going to ACT shows for years & I tell everyone I can about them. Their productions are fabulous, often better then the Broadway productions. With a very small stage & with lots of love, dedication & talent you are transported to times gone by, foreign places or down memory lane. It is always a joy to see an ACT play, they offer top-notch theater to the community.

They bring Broadway to Yonkers. They allow people to experience great theater and provide opportunities for young people to get involved with the theater also.

Actors Conservatory Theater (Wenar Productions, Ltd.) is one of the best kept secrets on the planet. That is one of their biggest problems. They are not well known. Their volunteers, board members, etc., are top notch. My mother who is 94 has a hart time hearing and seeing. ACT always reserves a front row seat for her. Their productions could rivel any off Broadway production. I would say any Broadway production, but the small stage size and size of the theater makes their comparison closer to off Broadway. ALL of the shows I have seen have been excellent. Value is tops! For a little more than the cost of a MOVIE, one can experience LIVE theater. And when combined with their dinner package, the value can't be beat. Their only drawback is not having their own theater. While the church meets their needs now, the seating leaves a lot to be desired. If you are not in the first few rows, your view of the stage is limited. Hopefully this campaign will let the public in on this "secret" and they will achieve the means for getting a little theater of their own.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Buy its own theater, offer scholarships, have many more productions a year, and pay their hardworking staff

Ways to make it better...

they had handicap access. I would like to take my husand to the productions, however a long set of steps to get into the theatre and lack of handicap access makes it impossible very limited by stairs.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Getting more publicity about the kinds of productions they produce.

Actors Conservatory Theatre (Wenar Productions, Ltd.) is one of the most enduring arts organizations in the greater NY area. They have done so by being organized by a small group of dedicated volunteers who have consistently given their time, energy, and skills for many – in some cases, over 30 – years. They have kept costs low, and their offerings varied, so their performances have been accessible to audiences with broad needs and interests. Their junior troupe affords young people an incredible opportunity to work with people with professional-level skills WITHOUT charging a fee. They have kept their ticket prices affordable while other theatre companies at comparable levels have raised theirs. They have survived 2 recessions, being without a home theatre, and very limited public funding beyond ticket sales. They have survived in spite of the marginalization of the arts in our society for the past 30+ years. Their audiences have been loyal in spite of the fact that, out of necessity, ACT’s productions have been presented in nearly half dozen venues in as many towns throughout Westchester county. Actors Conservatory Theatre is an example of the best of non-profit organizations. It is deserving of much praise and support.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

that I've been able to see amazing theatre right in my own community at an affordable price. I've been able to bring my entire family to their children's shows. What they do is all good.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

When I helped this organization, I sat on their Board of directors, performed in their plays. I volunteered to help with tasks related to the production of shows. I loved the community spirit, the people, and the experienced stewardship.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The board members, people who direct the shows and choreograph the shows, people who volunteer to help in the theatre before, during and after productions. These were enthusiastic (mostly) volunteers who make an important contribution and have fun.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

..purchase their own theatre, where they could store their own sets, costumes and lighting. They could offer more programs for kids, they could offer free theatre to the community, and they could provide consultation to other community theatre groups.
