Our daughter, age 10, our future meteorlogist, attended weather camp this past summer. She really enjoyed it and learned many things about hurricanes and tornados. She was sent home with papers, experiments the class did, and mementos to keep. We live 4 1/2 hours from the Center...so it was a trek for us...we did stay with family in Houston. I would highly recommend the Weather Research Center...we will attend the summer of 2011 as well! I liked the fact there were young women that taught the class that my daughter could "look" up to. Also they have a cool keepsake where your child stands in front of a green screen and tapes their own weather report...way cool!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

That I have listened to my daughter be excited about the weather and what she learned!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

nice!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand their learning center!

The WRC provided an excellect program for several youth groups I brought to the museum for a scientific learning experience. This amazing place offered so much more. The opportunity to see how a weatherman preforms on television built confidence as well provided fun. The WRC gave their undivided attention to my youth groups, patiently answering all questions. The students took notes and walked away knowing their experience provided much more knowledge than most schools can provide. This museum truly inspires our youth to want to know more.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the excitement and questions that youth in our local community display each time they visit the museum.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide some chairs for seating.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The staff's eagerness to make it a wonderful experience.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Knowledged, patient and informative.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

create an amazing hands-on opportunity for youth to become more involved in learning about our weather, especially given the coastal area this community is part of.

Ways to make it better...

There was something to sit on other than the floor.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Financial support.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I had no idea what to expect the first time I went, and was so impressed I took family and friends to experience it.
