I have been part of this event for 23 years, and part of the Board sence its beginning. I have wonderful time giving back to men and women who have fought for our freedom. Our Foundation has a great committee and is always looking into making sure that those who serve our country will be taken care of. It’s an honor to be one of many that support this foundation. I only ask that if you love your Freedom thank a Vet. our story here and help others understand this charity

the Veterans Car Show which is held the first Sunday of every October. We have raised and distributed over $2 million dollars. There are no salary employees of the foundation or car show. We are committed to the welfare of our military family, knowing that for every serviceperson deployed in a combat zone a family is waiting and supporting them from home. We are committed to stand the gap when military pay and benefits are disrupted for any reason, so that family can continue to be a source of support until the income resumes. We are dedicated to the inpatient and outpatient care of our past, present and future servicepersons who will receive treatment at the Loma Linda VA facility. Their care and needs are primary to the Foundation and we continue to help improve and support services such as chemo facility expansion, transportation and basic patient services.

This Foundation is a group of people that have helped 100's if not thousands of Veterans and active Military. They help with life saving utilities, Transportation , Food, Wheelchairs, have put new televisions in the hospital rooms with satellite so the Veterans can watch sports, movies, ect. You cannot ask for a better caring group than these Volunteers.

I have worked with this great group for about 21 year on the car show committee and now on the board. The Volunteers for Veterans Foundation works all year to raise funds to help our vets and active military. Our Committee spends every weekend going out to car shows selling tickets for the give-away-car all year long. We have raised over $1,400,000.00 for our Vets in Loma Linda V. A. hospital in the last 20 years. This year’s car showwas October 2, 2011 and was a great day. It had been a privilege to be a part of this group our motto says it all IF YOU LOVE YOUR FREEDOM THANK A VET

What is its top priority in the long run?

to help as many Veterans and Active Military for as long as we can

I have been involved with this foundation for a few years now and have seen how these funds have helped our men and women of the arm services that have and are still doing to protect us. If it was not for them we would not have such a great country, I feel honored to be part of this committee to show we care and love the freedom for which they have sacrifice so much. I have put in many hours to help raise funds so that this foundation may be able to do the wounderful things it has been able to do. I wish our vets didn't need a foundation like this , but yet I am grateful this foundation is there for them , my dad is a vet and this foundation has also saved my life since i'm disabled and retired,it has given me something to strive for in giving something back to those who put their life in harm's way to protect me, yet they don't even know me but still are willing to do so.

I have been involved with this organization for two (2) years thanks to a close friend that was, and still is, very dedicated to it. At the beginning I knew some of what this organization's work was, but soon learned that what they provided to the veterans was far beyond what you could imagine be accomplished by a small group of individuals. This is a group of extraordinary people who have accomplished so much over the years to help the veterans who pass through the doors of the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Hospital. Funds generated by this group have provided items large and small for the veterans' needs at the hospital - from replacement television remotes, telephones, wheelchairs and a transporter unit to funding/support of programs which would have been cut/eliminated due to government cutbacks and helping with housing issues encountered by our veterans. The organization's slogan " If you love your freedom, thank a vet" is very true - but it is also true that actions speak louder than words and that is what this group of people is about. They don't just talk about helping, they get out there and do something to ensure our veterans receive the proper care they are entitled to for having served this country.

seeing the results of the few helping with the needs of the many.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help out even further with our veterans needs, but even that sum of oney would only be a start.

I had known about this organization much sooner.

I have watched the Veterans Car Show grow from an idea to what it is today. I have been fortunate to be a part of the car show from the start. Our group is now the Volunteers for Veterans Foundation,an outstanding non-profit organization. The car show is our largest fund raise. We help provide this assistance to those who are in transition to civilian life and awaiting VA benefits. The Volunteers for Veterans Foundation provides support to the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, thought the Voluntary Service Dept. All funds donated are used to help our Veterans and active Military in some way. The government is providing first-class medical care for our wounded soldiers, but it will never be able to provide all of what they deserve and so many services desperately needed by their families. The Volunteers for Veterans Foundation is ran by all volunteers. We could not do all that we do without the help of everyone that supports our foundation, and we want to say thank you. Larry Volk

It has been my priveledge to be a part of the Volunteers For Veterans Foundation for several years now. The amount of hours that Larry and Betty and the group put in is staggering, but the rewards are great. Its a wonderful feeling to know that all of our efforts go towards helping our Vets with the needs that they have.

The Volunteers for Veterans Foundation was formalized just last year, however, their work has been going on for the past 20 plus years. The support shown to our Veterans through this Foundation is beneficial to long time Vets and to those returning from recent conflicts. I am proud to be affiliated with this group as a volunteer. The Committee members and volunteers work hard at raising funds toward providing services for Vets in need and their families.

The Great!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The feeling of accomplishment the dedication of supports provides.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, honorable and hard working toward the goals set.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand the support to more Veteran's Hospitals in need of funds.

Ways to make it better...

There were no need for the services.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The drop in the economy that has caused less donations to be collected.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am extremely proud to be a member of this Committee.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
