Students have benefited by having a role model that is not an adult. Their reading scores have improved some more drastically than others, but I feel that we had a part in making that happen.
Perhaps they could give us more activities to complete that goes along with the books that we use.
I monitor my students in this program on a weekly basis at our local elementary school. This year I have 28 students involved. I've seen how young students bond with their trendsetter and how their reading improves as a result of the individual attentio
I've enjoyed seeing my children light up when they arrive at the school to meet with their mentees. Likewise, the children get so excited about seeing their trendsetter.
The staff of Volunteer USA that I have met have been totally dedicated to the cause and have provided students with the know-how to mentor students in reading.
