As an administrative director of the Ariel Foundation I have toured and been in contact with the local Village Network in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. We gave two grants to this deserving organization in 2010. This wonderful facility and the dedicated people that work inside give a home with loving care while teaching life skills to children that otherwise would "fall through the cracks" with nowhere else to live. We are proud to be a donor of the Village Network of Mt. Vernon and play a small part in building lives and forming future productive citizens in these children.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Hearing the stories of those children that have been helped.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Spread awareness of this organization in our community.

I have done contract work as a nurse with The Village Network for about 10 years in a variety of locations. The Village staff is competent and caring. They provide a wide range of services for kids with emotional and/or behavioral needs. The kids seem to respond well to the treatment strategies giving them the support they need in thier formative years. I can honestly say that I have never overheard staff saying they hate thier job. This can be a challenge some days when youth are having issues and acting out. It shows that the employees actually care for the kids through thick and thin.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Hearing from kids that have grown up and share their success stories.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Change the Portage Lakes facility. It needs updated- not a balcony on the second floor...better yet, have everything on one floor.

The Village Network is a wonderful organization that repeatedly demonstrates commitment, care, and concern for adolescents and their families. They strive to provide mental health and behavioral services to community youth as well as youth from other areas of Ohio. I was working with a youth that was struggling in a traditional learning environment. I contacted TVN and they were able to place my client in the on-site educational program. My client has achieved better attendance and grades as a result of TVN. The people that work for The Village Network are passionate and dedicated to the youth of today. Their approach is ever-changing to meet the myriad of needs presented to the multifaceted team of professionals. The Village Network is a vital part of the success of the at-risk youth of Wayne and surrounding counties. Kudos to The Village Network

a professional capacity through collaborated services.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

ask that they become a stronger presence in the public school system where students with marginal mental health and behavioral issues can find success in the least restrictive environment.

I work in a school district that has an alternative program. There are times when we just don't have enough to serve the needs of the student population that we serve. For the male population, we have had to utilize the Village Network in order to find success not only for the student, but their family as well. They have that extra super structure that we just cannot offer. If it wasn't for the available staff and resources that they have, I feel there would be a lot of lost students who later in life would suffer the consequences of poor choices during their adolescence. It isn't until later and with maturity that most students realize the positive impact the program has on their life. I hope that the Village Network never goes away.

I have worked with the Village Network in Wooster, Ohio as a higher education mentor for students transitioning to college. The staff at the VN are concerned and dedicated to assisting youth. A mentor training and support group has been formed by VN staff and formalizes the efforts to better serve residents.

I highly value the experiences that I have had with the Village Network.

They collaborate with other agencies, businesses and educational systems. They are active in a multitude of community organizations, often in leadership roles.

I have had the opportunity of meeting a significant number of the Village Network Staff. They are extremely dedicated to the mission of the Village Network which is to promote responsible living and positive change in troubled children through partnerships with families and communities. Jim Miller, the CEO , not only has a good understanding of the services they deliver, has a real understanding of the financial end of the business, and because of his tremendous passion for the kids, it has permeated the entire organization.
In the last two years when other organizations similar to the Village Network have suffered financially or even closed, the Village Network has remained strong financially.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have personally seen the results that the Village Network has achieved or the last 10 years as a board member, and volunteer.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None other that being able to afford more children the ability to participate in the programs that the Village Network offers.

depending on the statistics you use, in the US, there are approximately9-11 million insedentces fo Child abuse annually. And appropximatley 30% fo those victums will grow up to abuse theri own children.

TVN helps break the cylce of child abuse by helping abused children gain the
treatemtn required to build self confidence, self worth, respect for authority, and gain the skills to grow into responsible citizens.

TVN's treatemtn programs are 85- 95% effective adn tehy treat nearly 550 children daily throughout Ohio.
