The Veterans Assistance Foundation (VAF), founded in 1994, was established to operate homeless veteran programs in the State of Wisconsin. The VAF''s mission is to provide structured environments where homeless veterans are able to receive services needed to re-establish themselves in their community. The primary goal is to stabilize the veteran medically and mentally, and then look at the issues that have caused them to become homeless by breaking their current cycle. A program is tailored for the veteran to obtain the items necessary for independence.
Programs and Services to assist homeless and at risk homeless to increase their status in society. The transitional housing programs operated under the Veterans Assistance Foundation provide veterans with health care assessments, referrals for psychological assessments, state and federal benefits counseling, vocational assessments, job service referrals and placement, case management, sobriety maintenance through AA, NA, and individual and group counseling, referrals for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, housing assistance, and educational groups such as anger management, living skills, time management and family issues. The VAF has 3 programs with 76 beds in operation throughout Wisconsin.
