We have been truely blessed twice by Variety the Childrens Charity of North Texas and don't know what we would have done without them. I am a stay at home mom with my son Grant who is a 3 year old with Cerebral Palsy and because of this he is unable to walk. We are one of those families that does have commercial insurance with my husbands company, but unfortunately a wheelchair was not affordable to us. About 8 months ago now Grant recieved a manual wheelchair, from Variety the Childrens Charity and now I actually have a toddler! Up until that point his only mode of transportation was either army crawling or me or my husband carrying him and positioning him in a sitting position. Now that he has his chair, Grant has become a normal 3 year old boy. His confidence level has gone through the roof. Before he would shy away and be terrified of me walking away from him, to now he goes up to strangers and starts talking to them! His wheelchair is his legs and its not only that its meant the world to him! He can go and experience so much more and do it independently! I have always stressed that he needs to be as independent as possible, and with his new chair, he is! Our second blessing came back in September 08, when he was given the coolest opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Texas Rangers Baseball game. All of this because of a really amazing charity that we truly could not have done without. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Variety the Childrens Charity!! The Ballard Family
Variety Club of Texas was an organization that was there to help my 13 year old daughter Shelby get a manual wheelchair. She was denied 3 times from the state program that she was on due to the fact that she had an electric wheelchair. They could not undestand that we use a manual one just as much. For example when a friend or family member will want to take her somewhere they have to take her with the manual chair, most people do not have a van with a lift as their vehicle of choice. Variety purchased the wheelchair that she needed and now she is like other 14 year old; she can go anywhere at any given time. Variety was very professional and they worked quickly. They treated me and my child with respect and I am very grateful. This is a wonderful program for people like me, who work, contribute to society, but just do not have the "extra" to purchase equipment that their children need. Thank You!
Variety Club was such a blessing to my family. They helped my daughter with her Docband. She is done with treatment and has made such an improvement. Lance at Variety was great he went above and beyond and was so helpful to me. He walked me thru the whole process. I cant say enough good things about the charity. Thanks
I'm a mom of a 15yrs old son with Cerebral Palsy. I'm greatful that Variety donated a bicycle to my son. It gives us the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors like never before. We enjoy it and people that see us riding the bike always have to say something good about it. We really love it and I can't wait until summer starts again to go to the parks and enjoy the outdoors again. Thank you Variety,,,, God Bless. Brenda, Angel
