VANS FOR VETS ORG
It was a good experience. I got a lot of good advice and help and I might even have a new job because they referred me. Overall great experience.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I was referred to agencies, people and to resources that I didn't know about. It was great for me and my kids.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Oh, I don't know what kind of changes. They need a new motorhome which they offered to let me stay in if I needed a place. Maybe get them another, newer motorhome.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I was impressed with deep concern for my situation by them. I had gone to other places for help and felt unwelcomed, but not at this place. I just enjoyed the accceptance and understanding. I didn't feel like I was being judged or anything like that.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
I worked with the Director and a disabled Vet's who works on the vehicles. They fixed my car while I was talking with the staff. That was pretty neat! I broke down in their parking lot, had no money, no one to call. They got/paid for parts and all.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
do anything they wanted to do. I know they would be able to help a lot more people like me.
Ways to make it better...
I don't think it could have been any better. I was really helped and satisfied. I'm grateful for their help.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
This org. is grass roots, down in the trenches with us, not in some fancy office downtown. This is the kind of place where if you need food, they feed you. You need a blanket, they get you that and a place to sleep/stay. I don't know their challenges.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Overall this was a great experience. I am grateful for the help and kindness I got there. They let me use their computers to check emails and stuff, too.

I can't say as I don't know about this kind of stuff

I found them on the internet and I'm glad I did. When I came back to PA from the war I didn't know my wife had left me and took our baby. I didn't expect to be treated so good by people I didn't even know. Vans For Vets helped me get stabilized and gave me a job fixing some vans and 3 cars. It was enough money to buy some second hand civies and they gave me an old Ford Tempo. I'm still driving it but I didn't think it would make the trip back to Macon. It did and gas was cheap. I only spended 60 bucks for gas.

Vans FOr Vets is a great organization! They helped me more than just about anybody I ever met. I can't thank them enough.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I'd buy them a bunch of vehicles and get them a newer motorhome that they use for emergency housing for people like me. The motorhome is pretty old and smells a little musty, but it was warm, dry and very clean and was a good place to spend cold nites.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
We had a couple of camp fires and I called a couple of my buddies to come over and visit with me. We were allowed to build a camp fire, sit around the fire and BS and we made hot dogs over a fire and it was nice.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Joe and his people were really nice. They had another disabled Vet there to help me work on the car they got for me and he was pretty neat...his name was Jim and he was from TexArkanna, Arkensas. He was pretty cool.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
they coudl do a lot more and would probably get people newer cars, vans and trucks.
Ways to make it better...
If I would have had my wife and baby with me.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
They don't have a lot of money and Joe and his wife do almost 100% of the work. THere were some volunteers, they were nice, too. They probably face challenges but I know they'll be ok.
One thing I'd also say is that...
They are the best people and a great organization.

A friend told me about VansForVets when I was staying at the 286 Center. I contact them and was invited to visit. I had a good visit and what really impressed me was how concerned they were for me and my situation. They helped me in more ways than I can say. My experience was Delta-Tango!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
They provided referrals and helped me make contacts to get an apartment and temporary work. I didn't know that because I was homeless that I didn't qualify for public assisterance. They helped me out.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I really cant say. They seem to make due with what they have and Joe always has lots of suggestions and solutions to differnt kinds of problems. I don't know whay to change.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The people were really nice! They made me feel good, understood my problems.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
The staff members were very kind to me. THey deserve to be supported. They helped me get a car. Yes, an old clunker. But a year ago I had to walk everywhere because I was DUi. They took me to meeting and made great coffee and we ate donuts.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Probably do more than it does now. I don't think it's about money with them. They really are concerned for Vet's.
Ways to make it better...
Probably if I would have not showed up in such a mess condition. I was pretty bad but they were patient with me. I was ashamed of how I acted and I apologized.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
I think if they had a bigger place instead of that barn they would look more professional. But when you're homeless like me and it's raining and cold, a warm barn is sure a welcome and inviting place to stay.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I really appreciated their help and kindness.

I can honestly say that I've never seen a man work harder for our Vet's and families than Dr. Resnick and VansForVets.Org. I was 'flat-broke', homeless, no car, no money and no clothes and worst of all, no family and was ejected from the VA Hospital System. VansForVets saved my life. E.D.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The folks at Vans For Vets made me feel like a member of a family again. My self-worth and confidence were restored and I realized that my service to America was worth the price I paid. I lived in their motorhome for almost a month. It saved my life.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would give Dr. Resnick and his organization some kind of 'medal' for the work they do. I never met anyone like this man.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I was humbled by the sincerity and devotion to disabled Vet's by this organization. They made me feel so good about myslef again, helped me find a place to live, gave me money and food, a new suit (from GoodWill...still with tags on it!).
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
The Director and his people were 5-Star! The Director and his wife took me to Oklahoma so that I could attend my baby brothers funeral. I lived in their motor home for almost a month. They saved my life.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
They have thousands of applications from men, women and families like me who need a little help either with a handicap van, a motorized wheel chair, food, healthcare and jobs. If I had money I would support this organization. They saved my life.
Ways to make it better...
I wish I was rich so that I could support Vans For Vets. I hope I hit the Lottery some day!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
From what I could see they get a lot of requests for services and for vehicles. They need financial help to be able to help more people and families. I was in the office one day and the phone never stopped ringing, all people calling for help.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Some day I'm going to repay the kindness and generosity I received from the folks at Vans for Vets.
