This organization provides a great service to men with prostate cancer and their families.
Having support groups across the country is appreciated by all prostate cancer survivors.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Talking with a number of cancer survivors.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

- Make a greater effort to assure that there will be, at the end, only one prostate cancer organization that will represent current and future survivors on the political scene.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Likely

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

A lot

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Okay

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Likely

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

Get more involved with state wide organizations and medical institutions (especially those that sponsor the support groups) to help the cause as well as other survivors.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

It showed me the need that these organizations need more survivors actively engaging in prostate cancer awareness, helping other survivors and their families.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Frustrated.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2011

There is no way I could begin to relate all the ways UsTOO International has helped me to battle my prostate cancer. The insights and information I have received from the truly caring doctors, like Dr. Strum, et al, advocate, Chuck Maack, and other fellow cancer victims, have given me the necessary information to continue this endless battle.

After being diagnosed with Protate Cancer, I spent a lot of time perusing various sites on the internet for info on PCa. Not only did the Us TOO site provide what seemed to be a lot of level headed info

Over the months, I have come across various sites that while once current, the interest in maintaining the site has dropped off or they have an agenda. This does not appear to be the case with the US TOO site.

They also maintain the ProtatePointer mailing lists (over a dozen different topics).

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Attending the monthly support groups has been a positive experience, and it is quite uplifting to see a bewildered man come in, just diagnosed, and go out with some game plan on how to proceed next!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Keep up the good work!

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1998 at the age of 52 and thought it was the end of the world. Luckily I soon found the Us Too organization with its abundance of information on prostate cancer and treatment options. The impressive thing about the national Us Too organization is that the information it provides is cutting edge. At the local monthly Us Too Chapter meetings (about 400 chapters around the country), there are volunteers and other prostate cancer survivors ready and willing to speak with you about your particular situation. They have a wealth of experience with all aspects of prostate cancer, and can give you the added perspective you need to make an informed treatment decision.

It's been 13 years and I am very fortunate to not have had a recurrence of prostate cancer. I was so grateful for the information that Us Too provided that helped me make an informed treatment decision, that I became a volunteer in one of the local chapters. I can't recommend highly enough that anyone, whether newly diagnosed or having a recurrence, should put Us Too at the top of their prostate cancer resource list.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I can’t think of any. Just keep up the good work.

Us Too has sponsored my prostate cancer support and education group for many years. They have provided extremely valuable information and publications to our members. They have also helped to sponsor various symposiums dealing with prostate cancer. Their basic objective is to provide information to prostate cancer patients so that proper and rational treatment decisions can be made in a timely fashion. They also provide educational sessions for people interested in learning about propstate cancer.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...support group meetings and in prostate cancer symposiums. Their periodicals and publications are of great help in educating people about prostate cancer and its treatments.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...do nothing to change it. It's doing a good job the way it is.

US TOO was the first organization i consulted when i was diagnosed with prostate cancer It was so scary for me but they were there for support and advice....the prostate pointers selection is unbelievably informative.....the members experience is more informative than the medical communities opinions....the doctors that do participate, dr strum and israel barken are the most informed doctors i've met and that includes the big medical center in which i'm a patient. i religiously check this site for new information and guidance from the people who have to live with this condition

I have been following patient conversation and the recommendations of medical doctors through this site for nearly a decade. This is an invaluable resource for men who face a very difficult disease. Beyond that, the site has helped me to be better informed and more conscious of how my diagnosis and treatment schedule should proceed. Thanks to all of the volunteers, medical doctors and patients who share their knowledge. I cannot say enough positive things here to express the feeling of gratitude I have for this resource.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Change nothing. Were I able, I would support US TOO in any way possible.

I am the wife of a Prostate Cancer survivor. Through US TOO and its online support groups, I have received information about the disease which was vital in helping us to choose the appropriate form of treatment. In addition, the support that we have received during the course of my husband's diaagnosis, treatment and recovery has been invaluable. Although my husband's diagnosis occured over 14 years ago, I remain involved with an US TOO support group so that I can extend a helping hand to others. I have recommended US TOO groups to other men and their partners.

The guidance that came from the US TOO online support group steered us in the right direction. The group has been a lifeline for me and my husband.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

As far as I'm concerned, the group met our needs, and no changes are necessary.
